I watch A LOT of anime on my computer as well as on my big screen but for media player files if you need players that play like anything:

The Core Media Player ( I love the design on this and it can play almost anything)
http://www.tucows.com/get/299014_113560

VLC Media Player (I like how it can play any file. I've yet to come across one file it couldn't play)
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Combined Community Codec Pack (This is awesome it helps all media players play a lot more)
http://cccp-project.net/download.php?type=cccp

Well that's all you need for media players, i recommend for mkv files use VLC, for avi files use The Core Media Player.[/u]

"Useful" could be just anything. And why do you need to install programs you don't need on your computer? Most people would want their pc to be clean as possible so i really don't understand you.

Things you have but don't need them = garbage. Look for something WHEN you actually need it.

Try Unlocker: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

This program allows you to delete/move/rename files even when there's an error message saying "The file is being used by another program/user". More info at the link.

To me, this program is pretty useful for deleting files, because I find (especially when I am extracting zip/rar files using winRAR) explorer.exe keeps locking the files I want to delete.

Do make sure the file you want to delete/move/rename is NOT a system file though...

You may need some free compression software for your zip files. You can try to download from this website

Ah, sorry. That was back in the 1990's lol, so I don't know how to work them out today. Here's the link for the plug-ins. They're in .exe files so I assume all you hafta to do is just run them to apply.

vdubmod will allow you to post subtitles onto a video. as for the subs themselves, you can just use notepad and stick in time queues if there arent many subs, otherwise I think subtit or something of that name would be what your looking for.

Well for IM you could use something like Trillian that puts all your Friends list from different Instant Messaging programs into one big friendlist. Never have to open up multiple friends lists again. *_*
