| Death Note was very 'original' amongst the new animes that I have seen. |

llamel>> care to explain why you choose that series?
to add some quality to your post...
most of the originals would be the old ones...
Astro boy would be THE original anime since he was created by the so called "father of anime" Osamu Tezuka... _________________

Ranma 1/2 in terms of comedy in a "shonen/shojo" element of bizarre fantasy, and stoy-telling that was alright until Richard Cocks ruined it.
Ouran High School Host Club. Again, a comedy with more of a drama, Shojo additude, and a clever plot. I think I'm a bit of a sucker for anime in where the girls are tomboyish, and the boys can be very feminine. But god I loved this anime to death. Plus, Tamaki>Light. Seriously, his Seiyu should stick to comedy, not Drama. While he's good in both, he's just outlandishly funny when he emotes more. (Also, Ocean Group should dub this; BADLY).
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. While just a 13 episode OVA series, in which the prequel took a decade to make, and had far greater CGI, it is original for the characters, the mysterious 'stand' abilities, the plot, and the amount of violence. Just pure joy that puts further shame to the Dragon Ball franchise; where not a single villain can compare to Dio Brando.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Gotta love an anime where the original artist was fired, and have every work he did for the franchise burnt for making legit Doujishi. Kadokawa doesn't screw around (Nise MIDI Doronokai should watch out, because i'm sure Kadokawa wants him dead). Aside from the scandel, this anime is original for the subject matter, and sci-fi level of mystery, and good humour. Also, it doesn't hurt that it was put in a odd manner of broadcast order. Where the 6th episode is the last, and the first is a cheap, yet hilarious home movie. Very top notch; though tarnished by the extreme fanboys of this anime.
Lupin the 3rd. All I have to do to convince you all that this anime is original in almost every fitting way imaginable is mutter the name: Miyazaki. The legend himself directed episodes of this series, along with a feature film of the movie. Lupin, the grandson of master gentleman thief Arsene Lupin (He kicked Sherlock Holmes ass). Is a number of things, though he is a womanizer, who flaunts at the lovely Fujiko Mine; who backstabs Lupin every chance she sees. His partner in crime, sharp shooter Daisuke Jigen knows better than to pair up with a troublesome girl like Fujiko; alas, Lupin never learns. Comedy, thievery, lust, and MIYAZAKI! What more could one desire? _________________ FagWreck |

| Death Note is definitely on my list of most original... Who could've thought that someone could be killed just by writing their name in a book? And on top of that... there's a constant struggle between good and evil. What is right... and what is wrong? VERY original indeed... |

I can't really think of anything extraordinary at the moment, however two anime I really like for being out of the ordinary in terms of presentation are FLCL and recently Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, which so far is very much to my liking!
FLCL has a weird, crooked story, incomprehensive character personalities and no coherent explanation to what's really going on....at all! And for some reason, I really like it! I mean, why shouldn't there be an anime about some psyched space chick who kicks ailens coming out of the protagonist's head with a guitar?! Also the voices, and their feel is totally in line with the rest of the anime (JP ver. of course).
The thing I like so much about Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is that it sports some new touches to the way of visualizing anime, such as non-standard color settings, unusual angles, and sudden clips to something quite unrelated to the current story (ex. cousellor doing a handstand in the councelling room).
Nothing really genre breaking or anything, but some very fresh touches I'd say! ^_^ _________________ 秘密ã?¨ã?¯å¯†ã?‹ã?«éš ã?—ã?¦äººã?«çŸ¥ã‚‰ã?ªã?„事を言ã?†ã?®ã?

Mushishi.
Some bug like creatures only some can see that cause trouble. Every episode revolves around a different mushi. And how the Mushishi Ginko deal with them. Quite a odd anime to say the least.

The most original storyline got to be Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Series. This anime creates many situations within a certain time phase and each event has different outcome. The most interesting part is the evil twist in every single one of those story arcs which makes the anime more mysterious. Well i think it is the most original... _________________
moyashimon has to be original @_@ seeing microbes? Microbes being goofy random thingies? It's been referred to as similar to mushishi, but mushishi was about unreal things...this is about REAL stoof, with a bit of a spin on it; lol. I'm liking it ^_^ we'll see how mainstream it becomes. _________________ [IMG:400:100:d28e01b3aa]http://statsreloaded.com/SRNET/halo3/sigs5/14971.jpg[/img:d28e01b3aa] |

I would say Yakitate Japan, because:
1) its not based in a school, and
2) there's no magic/giant mechs/guns/swords/demons |
