|

Yeah, if anyone's got any tips on how to increase your upload speed when seeding using the Bittornado client, please share them with me. I can't ever get anything higher than about 40 kB/s, and I find that annoying as hell.
Is there a "setting" (like with the upload rate/max upload ratio) that I can set Bittornado on that would really jack up the speed?
If this is important, my OS is Windows 98se.
Sorry, I only know the basic of the basics when it comes to this kind of stuff.
Thanks.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I have cable connection, but tips when using DSL/ ethernet would be helpful, too, since I'll be moving to an area where cable internet may not be available. |

| I think I read some where that 98 has some sort of connection limit to it when on the internet. Dont remmber. I use ABC and it allows you to set the maximum amount of UL speed and the connections. Wish I could help more. Id suggest looking at the FAQ's on the BT protocol site. |

98 with a connection limit? I'll have to look into that. As for ABC, I tried it once and really didn't like what it was doing to my computer. I know that it's supposed to be one of the most easily managed clients available, but bittornado works better for me.
I've actually been thinking about trying out Azureus, but you know, I'll have to think about that a little longer.
Thanks for you help. I'll definitely look into the FAQs. |

most cable companies cap speeds... especially upstream. mine is capped at 512kbit (about 65KB/sec)
the thing about 98 limiting your speeds is only somewhat true... there's a registry key that limits your MTU... google it. |

| yes, upload stream could be the source of problem. It could also be the bittorent cllient. Try out other clients to be sure. |

With some clients, not sure about yours, you can open the torrent and add more trackers. This lets it download off more people... I guess that makes it faster
I know BitComet, for one, lets you do it. |

| make sure your firewall isn't blocking BT ports (6881-6889 by default... check your preferences in BT) |
