ok, i ,have advanced very far in my manga (at least from what it used to be)and i finally have the three main parts down: the characters, the story, and last but not least: a title! lol.So, here is a quick summary of the story. what happend was when the main character, Ryouky was 9, his martial arts trainer was sent to war. the day that he was supposed to come back, he didnt. when he went to the general to ask what had happend, the general said that his master had been killed, but he had fought bravely. now, Ryouky is a samurai, wandering around from town to town, looking for information on one person: Ishamikkio Dakema! (you will learn who he is when i start the actual chapters! ) here is a sketch of the main character when he was nine

I also began a manga but i stopped drawing when i saw that my big sis's drawing was better than mine ^^;
About ur drawing there's things that u have to improve
For exemple, the chara's head is too big for his body, his neck too.
U have to give more form to his shoulders and try to perform the way u do hands
Nice beginning ^^ |

I think you should continue your manga.
It will help you get more interested in art, become more aware of what you have trouble drawing, as well as train you to draw better.
Also, a lot of great artists started off drawing poorly.
Example: Check this comic out:
http://www.levelmanga.com/comic.php
Click on some of the early pages, then click on some of the latter pages. xD
btw: i hope you're using photoshop. _________________ GG |

I think you should take some art classes or use a reference......
Reference are a good start since it gives you basic anatomy studies....
Manga comic requires you to have at least get your body anatomy right.
To start a comic or a manga, it requires good drawing skills since you have to be able to image your character movement and stance in your mind.....correctly.....
Most of the time, you have to give a good first impression to your readers......a harsh reality.....but always true.....
I think you should brush up on your body anatomy before you start drawing a manga comic......Therefore i think you should stop drawing the manga and get the basics right.......before going on to the next stage.....!
However, this is just my opinion....I dun want to sweet talk like the others...I am just stating out the truth.....Truth hurts but it is better that way, don't you think....?
This is not DeviantArt. I am not here to make you feel good. Don't know about the rest......of the community here, though.....?
Other than that, brave attempt......
All good artist started off very badly.....
Hope I didn't hurt you badly.....
Wish you the best off luck..... _________________ [IMG:221:100:f6cec3048b]http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa284/sasukesrg/1184861571171.gif[/img:f6cec3048b] |

well, thx for all the replies guys, and i have been practicing alot, so heres the deal: i am completely deleting that guy from the manga. i just looked at it again, and all of you are right: he pretty much stinks. i compared that guy to another one of my drawings, and he looks horrible. but, REC, one thing i will NOT do is quit my manga, but still, thx for the cunstructive critisim. i have been working on my drawing, like the atonamy of the body and stuff like that, so hopefully my next guy will look better. so, i am going to delete that guy and post up the new one soon. _________________ [IMG:400:150:2ffcb18b36]http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg154/siggyuploader96/Icecopy.jpg[/img:2ffcb18b36] |

Ah well, like he said this isn't one of his better drawings. (I know Im his brother lol) Anyway I think it would have been better if you had posted up your better ones first.
My only advice for the manga, make sure the characters you make arent so complicated that you can't draw them multiple times. Other than that, just keep practicing so that you can draw them easily.
And you still havent told me the story line of this thing! Now Im going to bug you until you tell me lol. |

Hey you got a name.
The story seems oddly like a combination of some animes though hehe.
Anyway the character looks much better than your old one. Two of the things that could do with a bit of improving is the hands and the face structure. Other than that I think you just need to keep practicing and you will get much better. ^_^ |

A slight improvement but it still didn't impress me.....
You still have work way harder.....I know that you tried your best but this is not up to your age standard. This is like my brother's drawing.....when he was 8.....Now he draws way much better.....
The head is still too big and neck is too wide.....
The legs are wrong....The fingers are horrible.
The shoulders are dislocated....
The body....I have nothing to say.....
A word of advice...You should do some research ON chibi characters......There are a lot on chibis around to study....Chibis are a good way to start drawing.....
Try drawing your favourite artist characters and you will soon get a feel of it....If you dun like drawing off people's arts...try to take actual photograph of yourself posing and draw from there....
This is not DeviantArt. I am not here to make you feel good. Don't know about the rest......of the community here, though.....?
Sorry for another harsh comment.....but I would like to see an improved art...... _________________ [IMG:221:100:f6cec3048b]http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa284/sasukesrg/1184861571171.gif[/img:f6cec3048b] |

Hey Rec, just a question....do you know how old my brother actually is? =)
Try figuring that one out and then talk about his age standard. And if you expect him to draw as well as some of the others here, then Im sorry but he needs to practice more and he knows that. (Im happy that your being honest, and he is too, but if you don't know his age you shouldn't say he can't draw well for it) |

REC>> u have ur opinions and thats good, but just give them ur response and feedback and nothing else ^^
its good to be candid with them, u don't have to give them attitude or anything =D
anyways Keep working on ur drawings Red, like rec said. Just keep practicing and look up some tuts if u want to.
on that note here is a nice site for a person like u ^^

Let's say, if you are very young and you can draw a drawing that surpasses your age limit wouldn't you be impressed.....?
Anyway, if you are young as quite young as your brother said.....then I think you are quite good.....since at a young age, I couldn't draw for nuts.....I started drawing only in high school.....That is when I like anime and started to dwindle in it....
It is good to start at young age and I have seen a lot of young people who draw stuff way beyond their age limit and way outer my league.....
bigdave, you were right!.....maybe the age thingy was a bit sensitive but it was a part of my comment and encouragement......(so that he feels *hurt* a bit and go to great length to prove to us.....how good he can become....) I will strictly criticize and praise only and nothing more....
Simoon...maybe I was a bit carried away....but I like to see how far you brother goes......! (his drawings make reminisce about mine back in the days)
Anyway, I would say sorry to calm things down.... :p _________________ [IMG:221:100:f6cec3048b]http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa284/sasukesrg/1184861571171.gif[/img:f6cec3048b] |

Well, thx everybody.
REC> i did try my hand at chibi characters, but i dont think that im goona post them up (because they have nothing to with the manga lol).
Well, anyway, i think that i didnt do such a great job on first empressions for the manga... so, i am going to literally put my focus the WHOLE weekend on the manga, and (hopefully) i will have about four more characters ready for the manga, and i can maybe start a scrap first page, just as a test.
So to put it simple- This weekend should be a good time for the manga _________________ [IMG:400:150:2ffcb18b36]http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg154/siggyuploader96/Icecopy.jpg[/img:2ffcb18b36] |

Red>> if u need some basic things to help create characters and stuff, that site I mentioned above has tons of good ideas on how to create a new character, how to name them, the anatomy and how to get the proportions right ^^
it sure helped me when I looked it up =D
I hope u are able to get some characters down. _________________ (\__/)
