Have you donated blood?

Looks like Im the third person thats too young to donate blood. Plus I don't know what age that is....but I think its a bit mre than one year for me. OnceI reach the age where I can though, I'll go donate some blood.

Hmmm the age over here to be legal to donate blood is 16 (maybe different in other countires Confused

), with a consent form signed by your parents and 18 is obviously when you can jsut say you wanna do it and stuff.

some --> it depends, some people are very afraid of needles...while some people aren't.

I though it was like a prolonged blood test ^^

just once, about 3 weeks ago, it was some sort of 'donate your blood' campaign held by the Ministry Of Health.

i nvr aware of the campaign until i ran across it on my way home after uni, at that time i thought 'guess i could spare some blood'...

i fill in the registry form, scale my weight and hv my blood sample taken, with a smile the nurse said 'it seem we hv a universal donor here'.....oh yeah, they gonna suck my blood dry.... Shocked

after that, i went to the nxt counter for blood pressure test, the nurse check my registry form, wrap my hand with the whachamacallit device and ask me a few question like 'did you already hv your breakfast?' 'got any fever or headache in the last few days?'

my blood pressure was normal so i passed, donors with unstable blood pressure were not allowed to proceed while donors with empty stomach were forced to hv their fill...

the rest, my ID card being scanned, received some sort of record book, i lay down on the bed ....and hv my blood sucked away from my body.....

MY PRECIOUS

15 minutes of non-stop blood sucking process passed, the nurse came and pull out the needle out of my hand, asked me to lay down a bit longer so i willl not black out later...

after 5 minutes or so, i get up and off to the last counter to get my share of:

1)an extremely sweet milk
2)a small pack of wheat cracker
3)donor certificate

i want my blood back.....XD

me no like needles.
but i've learned to cope... i get too many shots.

i just can't...LOOK at while it's happening. kinda creepy.
except in the hospital they put that cream stuff and it
numbs it so you can't feel them jab it in your hand.....

i'll do it eventually i think :s

gen - i do believe its O+.
which is the same as mine, universal donor but can only
recieve from another O+...kinda shitty.

i havnt donated blood before but i suppose i would try it. dont u get money for watever amount of blood u give?
maybe not since its called donating right? lol

but my sister has donated blood before. i dont know if my bloods good enuff in the first place. wat if they take too much blood and i die? O_O omg!

giggity --> there's no money for it... that's why its donating blood lol. And they won't suck out so much blood you die ... they take out less then 10% of your blood content.

oh, I hit "no, but I want to"... but now that I think about it... when I was in 8th grade (which was like 10 years ago), we had a blood-drive at school and I gave there. Since then though, I always see the signs around town, but the actual drives are like a week away and by then I forget. I say I'll go when it's convenient, but it never seems to work out that way.

Of course, I'm dying to find out what my blood-type is, heehee

hmm... i am not sure if I am allowed to donate blood...

before i know I wasn't allowed because i seem to be too thin... they thought i might have died if i have given any of mine.. Very Happy

right now.. well maybe i would be allowed to donate blood... since i did puff out a bit... Very Happy

as for blood type.. for the longest time i thought i was an O then i realized that it might be B... but im not too sure about that either.. hahaha... Razz

Yup, I've donated blood. Personally, I really liked the whole experience... maybe because I LOVE needles. That may sound strange, but I always have looked forward to getting my blood drawn and things like that. Anyways, it doesn't really matter if you enjoy it or not. It's for a good cause and thats really what counts.

but is it true? that they take ur blood for free, but then they sell it to hospitals for money? thats a total rip off! thats sort of like wat thrift stores do.. lol they take ur old stuff and sell them for rediculously high prices. totally.
