Olla,
I was wondering if someone can explain to me how these IRC channels work. I read a lot about being able to download files thru IRC channels.
How does it work and where do I get it?
And there is someting else a couple of weeks ago I tried to do some reviews but when I refreshed the page the words got deleted. And I got demtoivated hahaha. But just a week ago I did 2 reviews and so far I don't think anything went wrong.
So I was wondering how long does it take before the review is rejected or posted online?

IRC Channels is pretty similar to MSN, but the only difference is that you need to access one of the IRC servers before you can chat. If you need help on the details, I may need to talk to you through MSN or you may need to ask around your IT friends for help.
As for the review, if you are using the refresh, it will most likely disappear, so try not to do that =)
As for how long the review got rejected or not, that one is up to the review mods who are online to check out the reviews, so there is no exact timings on when the reviews is going to be rejected or not.
Glad to hear that you have enjoyed the new function of the review module =)

you also may want to take note that most IRC application (thingies) usually charge money after a certain amount of time. I , myself, have just gotten into IRC and the servers can be quite confusing...heh. Also, there are alot of very immature people on IRC so you can be hit on by a guy or girl.  If your a girl it's worse though. IRC guys are usually savage beasts who probably live in their mom's basement and are on a balanced diet of donuts and oreos. >_> |

just think of IRC like a virtual city. each "server" is a building and in each building are rooms filled with other people. these rooms are called "channels". so basically, once you've installed your IRC client (the program you use to access irc like mIRC or our very own Java applet you can find up top under Community), you connect to a server that then lets you join channels to talk to other people.
downloading is a tad more complicated due to technical reasons, but the basic principle is simple enough. some people host file servers that allow other people to download from them. you just have to find the right person in the right place with the file you want and request the file using whatever command(s) that person has designated.

Thanks minna! I think I know what IRC is I think!
I think I was around 14 years old when I visited a IRC channel for the first time.
It was fun at first but a lot of weirdos began to pop up.
But I think the program was called M.IRC or something like it. I'm geussing it was the same thing. I think I stopped using it when some weirdo wanted to send me a file of him jerking off =_=.. I was so shocked I geuss I completely forgot about it.(By the way I was smart enough not to accept the file d@mn weirdo).
For some reason people like to lie about their age online =_=..why's that them people got some serious issues. So I basicly stopped using it and I haven't used MSN for over 4 years now O_O.
Somehow when you do find nice peeps to chat with it ends up in late night chatting shifts =_=.
So i don't think I'll try IRC again...such a dummy that I totally forgot about the whole incident. |
