my dad has gotten a position on the Departament of Peace Keeping Operations (DPKO) of the United Nations in New York. smthn like that for any military officer is the top goal. our whole familly is going coz the contract says that he can take us. so! ammm......i need to know some stuff.
how many of you A-Sers are from NY (
coz i dont want to be alone and w/o friends
)
and which is the best university of NY to study film making or 3D animation and special effects
im more worried about the last one coz one of the requirements to take an offspring(?) of my age is that he/she must study on some university or college or else he/she wont be approved by the UN to go to NY TT_TT
ive found some unys with this carrers at universia and i still have a loooong list to look at. but i really want to know which one is the best of the best
Please help me!!! TT_TT

wow, that's so cool!! Congrats to him... now I'll have someone on the inside to help me out when I get back from Japan since working for an embassy is kinda a career goal for me.

I'm outside of Boston Massachusetts, which is about 350 miles away. From where I live, it's about a 4-hour car-ride. Not bad at all if I wanted to go visit a friend in the city for a weekend. I can't really say much about NYC since I've only actually been there like 2 or 3 times. A few of our staff members do live there though.

erm... I'm sure there are plenty. Anything I say would be a guess, but something like "the New York School of Art & Design" pops into my head. I dunno... it can't be that hard to find out. Any NYC tourism website should have that kind of info.

CHerry>> o.o..............
WHOA Kakkoi!! XD
u moving to NYC? thats a pretty cool thing, Congrats to ur dad for getting that position. ^____^
haha if u lived there then u would only be like an hour and a half drives away =D
that would be fun if some staffers can go down there one time and have a little party at ur place
hmmmm if ur talking about Art schools and stuff like that my cousins goes to Pratt, one of the big art schools around there ^^
u should check their site too ^^
but what exact courses do u wanna take cherry? _________________ (\__/)

hmmm... in order of distance away:
atikiN = New York City
Alexiel = New Jersey
bigdave = not sure, but 1.5 hours away
xeno = Boston MA
Nigoki = Boston MA
Keitarou = Washington DC
Long_Gun = Virginia
animevgirl = Illinois
so yeah, if we were to have another A-Source bash, there are plenty of us who could easily congregate in the NYC area. I'm only gonna be living outside Boston for the next year though, then I'm moving to Japan... if all goes to plan. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

yes, Otakon a month ago
myself, Kaiser, Frundock, atikiN, leoxjm, ddogt432, Keitarou, Rysticgon and Alexiel stayed in a house together in Baltimore for a week. It was big news... all over the frontpage for like the whole month
hope everything goes ok and we will be seing each others soon.
let us know when you're moved in. I'll take a trip over to NYC anytime. Which borough are you moving to? _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

oh thanks, haha... READ!!

i dont understand the word "borough"
my parents havnt decide yet where are we moving, but it looks like itll be new jersey
in big cities, the areas are broken into pieces (Boston and Chicago call them "neighborhoods," European cities call them "hamlets," New York calls their's "boroughs"). NYC is broken into:
- Manhatten (where all the skyscrapers are)
- Queens
- Brooklyn
- The Bronx
- Staten Island
I think there are two others, but they're not that prominent.
I'm going to NYC in December. I'm staying with a friend of a friend on Long Island (unless she moves to Queens by then). If you're gonna be settled by December 9th, you should meet up with at the New York Anime Festival that weekend... that's an open-invite to anyone actually. I need people to hang out with at cons ^___^ _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

nope, completely different. There's a New York state which is like half of the Northeastern US, then there's New York City which is a 10 million population metropolis tucked way down at the bottom of the state.
New Jersey is the state between New York and Pennsylvania. It does border NYC with some of it's own big cities (Newark, Patterson and Hoboken, I believe), but they're still seperate.

naturally it's their choice... they'll be the one paying the bills. Manhatten is obviously the best place to live, but it's pricey of course. Queens and Brooklyn are pretty decent. The rest of the city might be troublesome areas, but I don't know enough about them to really say so.
lemme know if you're going. We'll meet up and have lunch and go to a couple events together. I'm gonna try to round up a few more A-Sourcers to join us. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

I might be able to get you a press pass... depending on how many they give out to each site and if no one else on the staff wants to claim one. Either way, I think it would be cool to meet up with a-source people.
I'm gonna be staying with a friend on Long Island. You might be able to finagle a hotel spot with some other people, or maybe make arrangements to stay with someone else here who lives nearby.

::nods:: it'll prolly drop down to page 2 or 3 soon enough, but I'll leave it open just so anyone else interested can jump in on the planning. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)
