so yeah...like the title says
here we will look for the most epic anime..
we all know Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann etc
Heroic Age isn't bad either, but that are not all...
so what are the most epic anime you know...or at least name some fights that were kick ass (in other words 'epic' xD)

Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann is very impressive, a rush of adrenaline ;D
In epic moments, Death Note.

Hello! new to the forum and thought I'd say hi...
Anyways umm epic fights... Well I really liked the first big fight in Naruto, when he was fighting with kakashi against the water dude.
But kinda dull to mention naruto...
I remember one time in gits solid state socity when Togusa was in that hall and the daughter was there... Don't want to spoil becuse that scene was so heavy... |

fight scenes in tenjou tenge and ikkitousen is good too.
grappler bakki and hajime no ippo is good too...

With Epic the only anime that cross my mind would be Juuni Kokuki. Other than that. Perhaps Utawarerumono.

not an anime.
epic is... well hard to say. but it should be reasonably long and not boring like DBZ was. Why was DBZ so boring I don't know.
Heck you could make a case for seasons of Digimon.
I'll go with Record of the Lodoss War. but depends on what you mean by EPIC, and all that. |

well epic...hard to explain...
maybe something big and kick ass...mahh i can't explain well
it's just a feeling you get when you see that fight and thinks that it is so god damn kick ass and sweeping...

some of you people are missing the point of what an epic is...
epic loosely means that its a story centered on a hero doing heroic feats and is involved in events that are narrated in an elevated style...
ever heard of the term epic-proportions... it means big, extravagant, massive, impressively great...
so in terms of anime, DBZ will be considered epic since it involved universe encompassing explosions and odds that would make such stories as its descriptions -epic...
Tenggen toppa gurren-lagann would be the perfect example of an epic in that with the odds stacked against the protagonist they manage to come out victorious in the most extravagant, and explosive manner...
i don't think death note would fit that description...
utawarerumono can be considered epic with its large scale battles...
hope i made sense...

Yes but while popular, DBZ was rather boring and repetive.
and I'm pretty sure they were all the size of atoms, so it wasn't that large scale.
really the series makes alot more sense when you consider the Z-fighters were atoms. But its certainly less epic cuz it doesn't cover more area than whats inside a golf-ball.
but that may be just me. lotta super-fans that don't think Goku was an atom, even though he really resembles one. |

regardless of DBZ being boring or not its still considered an epic anime with how the show progresses...
we consider here the term epic anime as a category rather than a description on if it is boring or not...
i don't quite get your atom logic but you are entitled to it... 
for me, Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann would be THE current epic anime to watch..

Disagree. Epic doesn't have to have any sort of heroes doing heroic feats. A better definition would be where a story is told through great length, has multiple settings, large number of characters or is takes place through a long period of time.
Anyways, my favorite epic is one I'm currently watching, Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Longest OVA ever and has the largest VA cast in anime. Truly an epic, a must watch!

that is why i said loosely and the definition i gave would be more closely related to the epic poems...
i guess yours would be more spot on...
there would be a few animes that would be a little of an exemption from the characteristics described...
for one you also don't have to have a necessarily big cast to make an epic anime... it could be just one guy against the world... and the villains could be some no names...

"something big and kick ass" fits good doesn't it?
well in the first post i said "at least series where were some epic fights
since i have opionion that a fight in itself can be epic the series doesn't need to be epic itself...
but Death Note is not something that i am looking for...it's more like a rivalry with esper powers
i am talking about real fights
