Buying PS3

I need help in how to buy tvs -_-;

I just bought a 42 in panasonic plasma (bought it last month for 1200 now is only 999!).

So i was wondering what am i looking for in the specs for a good tv. Is higher contrast better or is lower contrast better? What does even mean!

Now I got another question lol. Can PS3's play PS2 games? By just inserting the disc like normal? Or do i have to download the games onto the hard drive?

Another important thing would be to know if it's 1080p and not 1080i instead... Though i must say 1080p are damn expensive... while 1080i and 720p are not very expensive.

Ok so i understand the 1080i and 1080p now =]. I went to wal mart and asked the guy who worked there about the contrast ratio he said the lower was beter....

So now i'm still confused >_<!

but mine i think is a 10,00/1 contrast, is tht good?
