I just installed MPC and cccp so I could play Anime mkv files. But it plays so slowly that the video & audio don't match and the audio is jerky when there is
any action. I can play video files with no problem using BS Player or VLC.
I installed cccp using all the recommended defaults. I'm wondering if there are any tweaks that will help.
I have a 20 gig HD with Win XP Pro, Pent III 479 MHz, 576 RAM.
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 video card.

Check which filters MPC are using for the mkv files. I suspect the video is encoded with H264 which would require a more powerful system to play. CCCP uses ffdshow and it doesn't handle H264 very well, especially those that uses higher frame rates. You could try going to ffdshow video decoder configuration and in Decoder Options, select "Skip H264 deblocking on delay" or in the Codecs, select disable "deblocking always" for H264.
If you have the money, try CoreAVC as it allows slower computer like your P3 479Mhz to play H264 video quite well. If you have CoreAVC installed, go to CCCP's setting and deselect H264 for ffdshow video decoders. This should allow the player to use CoreAVC instead of ffdshow. _________________ What's yours is mine, what's mine is still mine.

Thanks for the tips Lucifer, I'll try them. I'll check out Core AVC too. Sounds like it should be worth the money if it's not too pricey.
