Mr./Ms. Melancoholic used this word during a review of Black Lagoon: Second Barrage to signify English language spoken very badly by a Japanese voice actor/actress. I had never heard this term before, but it's so "right on" and it's a Hoot! BwaHaHaaa! The Black Lagoon series had a bunch of this stuff in a couple episodes. It even had some very bad Engrish spelling! I swear that in one scene they had a sign that said something like "Shopping Praza". BwaHaHaaa!!!

So, has anyone else seen any shows with this Engrish stuff? I now remember some in Speed Grapher during the abduction/mercinary episode. It can make an otherwise super serious and intense scene pretty dang comical.

Hmmm... Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha, Raging Heart and Bardiche's dodgey english ^^ whenever they call out an attack in any anime is always awesome engrish Very Happy

Engrish is a widespread expression for the Japanese pronunciation of English. ^_^
If you're looking for other examples of it, just be mindful of it, and you will find it in many many anime. A recent example from Hayate no Gotoku is Nagi having a DvD called 'Haruhi chan no U2', which with Japanese pronunciation becomes 'U2 - utsu'. I don't remember the exact translation but it roughly means 'depression', this, of course is a pun on 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya' which in Japanese is called 'Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuu'utsu'. ^_^

One of my favourite examples is from Azumanga Daioh, where the girls are wondering about Bruce Lee's name. In Japanese, his name becomes 'Buruusu Rii', which is pernounced almost the exact same was as 'Blue 3 - Buruu Surii'. The girls ponder if 'Blue' or 'Three' is his first name, until one of them wonders, 'If he's Blue 3, who's Blue 2?', whereupon one of them suggest it may be the code name of Jackie Chan. ^_^

Yet another example is from a japanese Fanta commercial, where a teacher in a japanese school writes a bunch of kanji on the whiteboard, and the asks the students what it says. 'I can not read it' the asked student answers. The teacher shouts 'It's Toropikaru Furutsu!', which is of course utter nonsense in Japanese, however it is the Japanese pronunciation of the words 'Tropical Fruit'. ^_^

Edit:
I forgot one of the most obvious examples of bad English in history.
Dialogue as well as I remember it, from a Sega Genesis game with English dialogue made by the Japanese manufacturer themselves:

*Boom*
-What happen?
-Someone set up us the bomb. We get signal!
-Main screen turn on.
*Cyborg looking guy shows up on screen*
-It's you.
-You are on your way to destruction. All your base are belong to us. You have no chance to survive made your time. Ha ha ha.

Try searching for 'All your base are belong to us' on Youtube and I'm sure you'll find it. ^_^
