The previously announced deal between ADV Films and Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc., in which ADV Films would take over all sales, marketing, and distribution of Geneon USA anime titles, has been cancelled.
In preparation for the transition, Geneon USA laid off the majority of its sales division, including all of its sales people. Customers of Geneon USA have informed us that they have been unable to obtain any information from Geneon USA about the current procedure for returns.
I think I'm going to cry

okay.... so then what happens to all the titles Geneon is currently releasing? Does this mean I have to wait longer for Karin to finish?

Will do, also; it means Geneon can't finish it's epic series Black Lagoon, and Hellsing Ultimate. Both have amazing dubs, and they're going to be forced to cancell them. Which makes me sad.

WHAT?!
Geneon is the best!
and Pioneer...then ADV.
why is geneon going?
they have lots of goodies and more variety, they voice actors arent all the same like ADV's, if anything, i figured that Geneon would be somewhat in more of a lead in the market than ADV.

It makes me upset aswell, ironically, I was listening to Komm Susser Tod from The End Of Eva (which was a horrid movie in my opinion.) And ofcourse, ADV owns Evangelion; so when I found out about this disaster, I was all lolirony.

Pioneer has been defunct for a while now... I liked Geneon though, they had the best dubs

haha, my thoughts exactly. I love Monica Rial... but oh my god... she's in friggin EVERYTHING!!!!
If I had to guess why Geneon sank it's cause they distributed for Bandai Visual US... that company that was selling DVDs at $49.99 Don't quote me on that though, it's just a guess.

now now, we don't know that for sure. If anything, the license just goes back on the market for ADV, FUNimation, Bandai, Media Blasters, or CPM to pick up.

But then they will obviously re-dub them. I can't picture Alexander Anderson without Steven Brand's scottish accent. Plus, Brad Swaile as Rock is too awesome. Maybe we should start a "Save Geneon" campaign.

yeah, re-dubs are a nightmare. I really really do hope the contracted-out dub studios Geneon used stay afloat.
A "Save Geneon" campaign won't work without $$$$

So it's really true that they are closing their doors. At least I will be able to finish Fate/Stay Night but we are not as lucky for other series like Hellsing Ultimate and Higurashi  .
I hoped we had more details in this letter regarding unfinished series...

I am indeed very saddened to hear about this. I was waiting for another Geneon 25 DVDs for $100 at Rightstuf.com for the hope to pick Black Lagoon, Gankutsuou, Tsukihime, and Zipang. I don't think this offer will be on ever again. I decided to buy the boxset of Tsukihime already, and I will be buying the boxset of Gankutsuou soon after. As for Zipang, its final DVD will be released on 16th of October and I hope that it will not be cancelled. I already bought DVD#4 & 5 of Zipang on ebay.com for $1.00 each (plus s/h) and I will keep an eye on ebay to see when deals on DVD#1-3 & 6 of Zipang will come up. As for Black Lagoon, I will reconsider how much I will invest in this series. Right now the price of this series is still too high for an extremely stingy person like me.
And thank god I bought all DVDs of Fighting Spirit at the previous Geneon 25 DVDs for $100 at Rightstuf last year, as the cheap boxsets are unlikely to be released.
