Whats scary about the back of the bus?

Here in Toronto, there's another door near the back of the bus so people can get out from there. Also its encourage you move to the back as possible so other passengers can get on and off. But when it's not crowded, its fine to stand near the front to get off.

Also, please be consider it and make some space for people. It's hard to get on when you're all bunching up in the front. Do it for the older people who have trouble getting on and off. Don't be an ass. So move back when needed to make the extra space.

well in australia(syd) the front seat are usually being given to older or disabled (Not always though). in my opinion i don't like to sit in the back because i dont want to be the first person who suffer from an accident.
why? Because unlike cars, busses dont have anything to cover you from accident from the back or front but since the most front seat are reserved for door and driver so the front is more safe than the back
beside in the darkness of night it is kinda scary to have dark view of the road behind you

recalling the time when I go by bus in school days, I don't go back because when my time come to get off people infront are standing like stone and I need to swim to go through them or ask them to get off and later they'll get in and that will take time.

It do really piss me off when people who leave early sit in the back, the last seat, and then they took time to go off while those whose homes are the last one stay in front. Sheesh since your home is near by then stay in the front seats instead of making the situation worse and the same for the opposite.

I don't know about the public buses but, when it is one of those old school buses with the full door just made of glass in the back... that thing just freaks me out.

I guess this problem didnt really exist here... teens are always trying to get to the last seats here.

Perhaps at the end of the bus, the air-con cant really reach...

Besides, the back of the bus is never empty over here, infact most ppl love going in the back... especially the thugs and drunk ppl who are obviously going to cause trouble... aww, bless^^

I like sitting at the back of the bus,since everyone is avoiding them,it's the place where I can sleep or throw stuff out of the window at any given moment to an innocent passer,say a chewing gum or egg's at the very worst Laughing

The back of the bus, or at least the ones I'm used to, smell (most likely of urine) and are incredibly noisy and jumpy because you end up sitting on top of the motor. Apart from that, the EFFORT it takes to go all the way to the back is just life-threatening.

I always figured it was because people want the seats closest to the door, but maybe it's also because people watch too many movies and are afraid of being stabbed without anyone else noticing.

The back of the bus often has the most interesting stories to tell. Just go there and check out the vandalism written on the back of the chairs or look at a random stain and try to imagine how they came to be and what led the person to do what they did.
