Episode 14 thoughts:

-Damn if I will be. Someone has to write a alternate reality manga with the title-Miraculous Worker Okazaki Tomoya. I can't believe how he managed to draft those flowers in, clean up the garden and place everything as nicely as he could remember.

-Kotomi....Well, the last time I had a argument on an online forum was about her, and the episode itself showed that we were all wrong. Kotomi certainly isn't a "spoilt brat", as proven by her father when her guardian spoke about him to her. In any case, I was surprised by her speed of recovery from her own gloom, but that's probably all thanks to the daily visits from Kyou, Ryou and Nagisa as well as how she watched Tomoya toil and sweat in doing what he could to bring her out.

-The touching scenes truly came when Tomoya held out his hand to Kotomi, when the scenes of how the suitcase were brought to Kotomi, the part where the contents of the letter were read out as well as the welcoming back of her parents by Kotomi. I've cried, though no waterfalls were made. Still, it was extremely touching, as most of this encompassed the love showed for Kotomi by her parents, and it was a really good and solid resolution for Kotomi, who could finally stop blaming herself for her parents' deaths.

-nice epilogue, though it felt as though something was missing.

As for the preview....I would think the next one would be Nagisa's, but I won't really know lest I got down to playing the game first.

WHAT? No discussion since my last post? Blasphemy! Laughing
Anyway, episode 15 thoughts:
-Great episode. Sunohara was awesome as usual, as was Tomoya. You don't often get a helpful guy who actually uses up all his savings for the sake of a friend, helps and comforts others as well as being such a manipulative bastard. On the other hand, aside from the basic Sunohar-ian humor, I quite like the serious side there is to him. Adds more depth to his character and makes him even more likeable in a way. I was quite certain that when he shouted his indignance to Sugisaka's plea that he was doing it for both himself and Tomoya.

-Doguu? What the hell? Wonder why Sunohara hasn't tried to get back at Tomoya for all the wonderful things the latter has done to him. Freaking out cat was somewhat amusing too. Laughing

-The part about him hounding Tomoya was hilarious (talk about stalking him in the toilet for basketball fun ) What resulted was even more entertaining, and finally gave a greater feeling that Tomoya and Nagisa are actually getting closer. Anyone noticed that the antenna on Nagisa was fried due to the shock of the "truth"? Laughing

-To tell the truth, while it was kinda nice to see Fuuko once again, her appearance and significance wasn't all that great. Tomoya could have done it, and his staring-off with the Judo captain makes me think that he might have actually been quite the delinquent as the behavior he's displayed so far was nowhere close to this.

-I noticed the focus of this episode was on Sunohara and Nagisa, so I'm actually glad they showed the seemingly random scenario with Tomoyo. Hounded not only by Sunohara, but other clubs as well. Just in case of the 'ice queen' label, she seems to be warming up to Tomoya as shown in the episode, and probably the preview. Wink

Speaking of which, it suddenly seems like Tomoya is the focus of speculation for relationships. Hmm...Somehow some of the gang are going to go ahead with Sunohara's madcap plan borne of Yukine. Wonder what's going to happen, now that we've got Mei in the mix too?

*First it's Mamiko Noto, Nakahara Mai and Kuwashima Houko, and now Tamura Yukari in the show. Lovely.

Can't wait for the next episode! Very Happy

Ooo~ I'm suprised too 5 days of no posts between ZGMF's posts O.O

I finally caught up with 14 and 15 ~ Clannad is so full of win xD *fangirls*

I like how everything was resolved with Kotomi's arc (lol I was afraid she was gonna dissappear)

Eppie 15 on the other hand was lots of fun, especially with Youhei doing his stuff Laughing and Tomoya aswell. I'm assuming this is Youhei's arc ^^ then again with there hints of Nagisa and Kyou/Ryou and a bit of Tomoyo aswell so I think it can go in all sorts of directions.

Ah yes Fuuko's appearance was sorta random... wasn't really nessesary, stil had me chukling though. Wonder if her real self will ever wake up?

And yaye of Tamura Yukari ~

And I got Kotomi's theme music ^^ it's so awesome ~

Here's my thoughts, ZGMF-00X. I just want to show you that people do read your posts, so keep posting!

Unfortunately, I did not feel the same level of emotion during Kotomi's arc then I did during Fuko-chan's arc. I guess I didn't find that Okazaki got closer to Kotomi then he did to Fuko. Where as Nagisa and Okazaki got a lot closer towards Fuko-chan, Everyone got closish to Kotomi. Even though Okazaki had a history with Kotomi, I didn't find their relationship to be as...well.. affectionate? I can't really think of the word. I mean, Kotomi's story was sad as well, But to me it wasn't as much as an emotional rollaer coaster like Fuko-chan's arc was. But, it was ok, It added another close relationship of Okazaki's.

An another note, Sunohara's behavior sure was strange; it really threw me off my grove. I mean, I guess when I think of it, even happy-going people like Sunohara have emotional sides as well. It just threw me off how angry he got at the Choir girl(can't remember the name).

But, as far as humor goes, Nagisa's reaction to Okazaki's gay joke was pretty hilarious, as well as Sunohara's unconscious going along with the joke. "It has to be Okazaki!" Priceless.

Ahh....Fuko-chan appeared randomly once again...They're not giving her enough credit! Alas...somehow...live moves on.

Tomoyo... Randomly they entered her in as well. I guess they have a plan for her eventually, seeing as they keep reminding us, the viewers, that she still exists and has emotions. Also, she keeps furthering her relationship with Okazaki, even if its little by little.

So, to close my thoughts, I wonder one last thing. This has been bothering me quite a bit lately. How can Sunohara's sister have a hair color completely opposite to her brothers?! I mean I can see brown and dirty blond, but BLUE AND BLONDE? Ahh, the world of anime! It's great, isn't it?

Ah, thanks. That comforts me quite a bit. Smile

Anyway, regarding Sunohara's behaviour...
It was mentioned in the episode that Sunohara also had to stop doing what he loved (Soccer. Quitted due to a fight with a senior) because of a stupid reason. I was pretty convinced that he was speaking up for himself AND Tomoya, since the latter's case is about the same, only with circumstances which are more dire than his. While all this way Sunohara may simply seem to be a happy-go-lucky bastard who gets his ass handed to him by Tomoyo, Misae, Kyou and the rugby team as well as the one and only Okazaki Tomoya, this display of emotion gave more depth to his character.

By the way, the Choir girl's name is Sugisaka. Smile

Well, for a Not so Minor Spoiler...

Sunohara actually dyed his hair blonde. Well, that's what a lot of delinquents do to display their rebellious attitude, I suppose.

More thoughts after watching 15 a second time.

Maybe I'm missing something, but Sunohara, during his rant at Sugisaka, talks about her being a cheater, and gets pissed off at her using a handicap to get what she wants. How does that relate to his past? I understand that he was kicked out of the soccer club because of a spat with a senpai, but what does that have to do with handicaps? Am I missing something, or has it just not yet been revealed? I bet that we're, sometime in the future of Clannad, going to dive into Sunohara's past. That will be interesting!

Also, I have problems understanding the previews... First they enter Tomoyo asking about Okazaki's relationship status, then they go to Kyou and Ryou, and at the end, we have Nagisa and Okazaki in Sunohara's room(even though we know nothing is going to happen, it'd be waaay to random! And out of the blue...and just weird...). But I guess that's going to be the format of the episode? Kinda like they did in 15? Where they haven't really decided ona story arc, but are giving all girls some air time? And what happens to Mei?! But i guess the previews can't tell the whole story. We'll just have to wait and see. My personal opinion?

Ryou's never going to have a chance. I just want to state that. No matter how many chances her older sister gives her, Ryou will always fail. She's too shy to make a move on Okazaki, and that will be her downfall.

I wonder if Fuko-chan will make another random entrance...That'd be awesome.

And does that mean Sunohara's hair is blue?! That'd just be weird...yeah, just weird.

Questions, questions. Not unwarranted, of course, but you do understand that that IS the preview, though I have to admit seeing Tomoyo interacting with Tomoya again has got my interest perked up even more. Wink

Actually, I'm not too sure what his hair color is. All I know is that
Blonde definitely isn't his natural hair color. Perhaps Mei can explain to us a little more, and we'll hopefully find out more about Youhei's past in the next two episodes at least.

I completely agree. I just get so excited when Tomoyo gets on the screen, becasue I think she has one of the best personalities of the girls. Plus, an over 1000 hit combo? Need I say more? She has a history that I'm very interested in, so I can't wait for her story arc.

Also, Kyou seems to have an interesting personality. I guess she's like the tomboy of the group, I hope that the show will back of Ryou a bit more and focus of Kyou, she just seems more interesting.

Also, asking for help to all Clannad fans. Can anyone remember which episode this happened:
(It's not really a spoiler, but just to be safe)
Which episode does Okazaki convince Sunohara that they're in the future, and he's a cyborg, and hilarious stuff like that. I like that scene, and I'm trying to find it!

I've been looking through episodes, but I can't seem to find it. I'd really aprreciate the help!

The good thing about looking through episodes is seeng Fuko-chan being Fuko-chan.
Dribble, Shoot!!

To answer your question, that would be episode 3.

Episode 16 thoughts:
This one's high on entertainment value, that's for sure.

-While Mei's entrance and stay in the anime was short, I thought it proved to be instrumental mostly in fleshing out Youhei's character more than ever. He isn't always the goofball who gets the short end of the stick from Tomoyo's kicks or Kyou's dictionaries and gets those fabulous reactions. Just a simple yet serious gesture of him asking Nagisa to take care of his sister showed that Youhei, after all, does care about certain things that mean a lot to him.
Mei was awesome in bringing out more Sunohara-ism. First there was the spin, then there was the Doguu-banging ritual. Aside from that, it was nice to actually see a character who seemed to be a lot more attuned to doing household chores than all the characters as we've seen so far.

-Kyou's interactions and reactions with Tomo X2 were obviously one of the highlights. The girl has a talent for hiding and recovering from embarassment, so it should be interesting to see what happens when her arc goes into full throttle. I can't decide whether she was getting all jealous or just thinking for her twin sister with the way she's acting.

Are we going to see her play any other sports sometime soon? It looked like she had talent, albeit a little unpolished and raw so I simply had the passing thought that it would be interesting if she took part in Sunohara's core sport as well. As for the fanclub...I don't see any males in them!

-Finally got to see a lot more Tomoyo in one episode alone. It seems like her development is starting to show a little more as compared to before. She scored more points here just by being herself-direct and straight to the point. No half-assed denials, no 'hiding behind the person you know the best in an unfamiliar place'. She got away with dragging Tomoya to school to make sure that he would be on time and ever so casually (accidentally) poked the sausage into Youhei's nostril. Of course, her last line in the episode probably got me more interested than ever before about her story with Tomoya since it didn't sound like a casual remark, but more of a thoughtful one.

I just realised that Tomoyo might herself be an unwitting contributor to the humor that's so prevalent in most of the episodes so far, especially with Sunohara and Tomoya in toll, of course.

-Ahh...Youhei. He was fabulous. I wonder if he has an ambition to be a slapstick comedian (a simple thought derived from the preview, of course). Even if he doesn't, he most certainly has a vast amount of talent for it. It's almost as though every time he meets of of our beloved protagonists or does something related to them, hilarity ensues. Still, the basketball match display showed that actions shouldn't be used to judge a person completely. He might not be as fit as the basketballers, but the sweat on his face most certainly told me that he seriously wanted to win for the sake of the drama club and 'Nagisa-chan'.

-Tomoya certainly had his life turned around by Nagisa. He was but a delinquent, and (tell me if I'm wrong) I'm pretty sure not many people enjoyed the notion of hanging around delinquents, maybe except for Kyou. Considering that he could actually hang out with several cute girls (and garner relationship misunderstandings as shown here ), help them out even though it seemed to him as though he was simply passing his time and most of all, have tons of fun.

The monologue in his head was good. While it might seem like the typical monologue for protagonists in sports anime who have to make that last shot/goal for a make-or-break decider, I thought it was an excellent reminder that although it seemed as though Tomoya looked so casual and had been helping out people, he was still having confidence and certain personal issues that caused him to sink back into depression because of one event. Nagisa's cheer solidified his resolve and knocked him back to his senses, thus also deepening a certain bond between them. Very nicely done.

*Sorry for the disjointed points. Did it quite late and I had been sick from food poisoning.

Next episode sounds and looks depressing for Tomoya, so I'm hoping that it gets down to dealing with his personal issues. As for the 'Whose Arc Is It Anyway?' game....A continuation to Tomoyo's soon, maybe? Or perhaps even a set up episode?

Yaye for Basketball! Very Happy Eppie 16

First half of Clannad was full of Sunohara's antics ~ so that was good fun, also the lil bit about the scar on Nagisa's butt was funny between her and her family. And Okazaki's like the 'Furukawa Specialty: Stupid Conversations'
I think people have said it before, but damn Key and their Milf's haha ^^

And I agree Tomoyo's an awesome character, very straight to the point ... I keep forgetting she's a year younger than everyone. Tomoyo and Kyou seen was awesome ^^

The basketball was awesome. I omgoshed Kyou's 3-pointers, she just gets them one in after another (lol I loved the part at the begining where she's like 'is it against the rules to smash the ball in someones face?')

It's a shame Mei had to go already, she was nice to have around~

I think these last couple episodes so far have been been sorta pivoty it can go anyway in terms 'character arcs'

And I've decided I like their winter uniform better. ^^

Resistance to becoming more fanboy before episode 17: 60%

Resistance to becoming more fanboy after episode 17: 30%

The way it is, Tomoyo still leads in terms of my own power ranking over Kyou, Nagisa and Kotomi. Looks to remain that way. Razz

*HUGE SPOILER WARNING*: For those who have yet to watch and do not wish to be spoilt, HIGHLIGHT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

If this keeps up, I'm going to start raving and ranting about Tomoyo and Kyou. Not that it's too likely to happen, though.

Episode 17 was great. I'm not too sure about the arcs, as usual, but currently there's that sense that Kyou's and Tomoyo's arc is slightly overlapping, though from the preview it seems like Tomoyo will be getting her arc first...Unless of course, they plan to interweave both of theirs until the end of them.

-I think this has been mentioned before, but Tomoyo certainly provides humor in unexpected ways. Unlike Kyou or Sunohara, who are obviously a lot more expressive, Tomoyo might not even be aware that her actions are causing a hell lot of comedy to occur. I laughed when she came to wake up the delinquent duo (also shutting Tomoya up in the process by mentioning his father), laughed hard the second time (she went easy on Sunohara! Probably didn't want to damage the dorm windows, I'll bet. Aside from that, Sunohara's room is getting progressively messier) and laughed harder when she popped up from behind, an action I often did when I was still in College, if I might say .

Again, she scores with how direct and unabashed her answers are to Tomoya's and Sunohara's questioning regarding her actions. It almost looks as though she's the guy trying to hit on the girls. Could she actually be taking the initiative like Kyou suspected? Now that would be something to see. It's probably the first time the viewers ever saw her smiling so much. No doubts to her comment about having fun with Tomoya around.

Aside from that, I'm getting more curious about her circumstances and her past with the delinquents. Tomoya made her out to be some sort of a vigilante, but with the preview I'm looking forward to an even deeper story than that.

-Another key feature of this episode would be the Fujibayashi siblings. While It's fair to say Kyou literally takes up the other larger portion of attention, I assume that there might be some foreshadowing about her arc to come. In a way, I feel sorry for Ryou. As compared to her sister and Tomoyo, she isn't that outgoing and forthcoming with talking to the guy she likes.

Of course, the gym storage room scene was great hilarity and entertainment. It was nice to see Kyou go all deredere and misunderstanding, while Tomoya added fuel to that fire unknowingly. The ending scene of his reciting gave me stomach cramps, considering how effective the spell was. It's really nice to see how Clannad can use such a commonly used scenario and make it seemingly refreshing and highly entertaining. Credit goes to the seiyuus and the animation too.

-Fuuko again?! Well, it wasn't as funny as the first few times she did that, but it didn't feel so bad. It's an issue on timing that people are complaning about, but considering that it follows up with Sunohara in tow, I don't have too many complaints.

-Points to the delinquent duo again. Youhei for his old slapstick stuff, and Tomoya for thoroughly dragging out the misunderstanding, for helping a girl out Yuuichi-style and for standing up to take the rap for Tomoyo. It seems apparent now that Nagisa has became an essential part of Tomoya's life, and he's probably starting to realise it, even to the extent of wanting he to come back for the drama club, something which he claimed he was helping out because he was bored. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, I suppose.

-Preview: Tomoya the PIMP. In any case, it looks all good for Tomoyo's arc.

I was actually so sick of her, I had to fast-forward before my eyes rolled inside-out (sorry, Fuuko fans).

I enjoyed the Gym Storage, though. It's not often I get to see Kyou in such an atmosphere.

Well, for you information...

The Fuuko scene that occurred here was actually taken completely from the game itself and from what I heard, it was the full package.

So while her appearance served to disrupt what we consider a 'flow' of the story, it gave time for Youhei to appear and for more comedy before the real fighting began.

And yes, dere dere Kyou = Pure MOE.

I'm late in coming to this series but am quickly catching up.

Just up to ep 10 so Fuko arc has just finished. Eps 7-9 were so delicately handled. Brought tears to my eyes (the first time since Grave of the Fireflies).

The ep where Tomoyama accidentaly scores a linked combo with Sumohara. It made me laugh so hard @^.^@

I'm going to have to d/l air and kanon now...

Damn you animation studio <shakes fist>
