Hi guys, i'm not sure what the hell happened to it, but my DVD/CD ROM drive isnt working.
less than 3 weeks ago, when i threw in shaun of the dead dvd it worked and played fine.
but now it doesnt load.
its not region or the dvd as ive been able to play many dvds on it before.
Nero doesnt burn from it now either, as it did before.
and when i used to put a CD in the drive, windows would pop up with a little menu asking "open folder" "take no action" etc. but now; nothing.
when i try to open it is "my computer" i am told "the CD is not yet formatted" even though its got stuff i've previously burnt from this drive.
when i try to watch DVD's, it wont give me that little menu and when i check my computer and click the drive, with a DVD or CD in it, all i get is "AUDIO_TS" and "VIDEO_TS" folders as well as a few little files.
it really sucks and is peeing me off because its my only drive i have that can read CDs.
I honestly have no idea what happened to it / what to do with it / how to check to see whats wrong with it.
PLEASE HELP ME GUYS, WITH PICS TOO SO I CAN UNDERSTAND IT BETTER _________________ [img:567:138:151453bb6b]http://www.anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/wahagifsda.gif[/img:151453bb6b]

That could happen due to 2 things:
1) Your DVD-ROM is faulty.
2) Your Windows driver cab file is corrupted.
If you want, you may want to try this to confirm either one of them:
1) Try to boot your windows XP from CD. If you are able to boot and the Windows bootup worked, then it is confirmed the driver cab file is corrupted. I have tried previously to repair it, but unable to resolve the problem. The only way to resolve this is to reinstall your Windows, so you may want to do backup of your data before proceeding on.
2) If you are not able to boot, then you have a faulty DVD-ROM drive. Then the only way to resolve the problem is to get a new drive. _________________ Innocent Tranquility

Warranty for optical storage device should be only one year, but you may want to just purchase a new one. It is not that expensive compared to what the price is a few years back.
I remembered buying an external burner for US$300 and it is able to burn at 8X maximum for DVD. Now, I can get a good one for only US$60 =P _________________ Innocent Tranquility
