My computer as been acting up lately and stopped it's volume. The static has made my volume unable to play music and when the cord is pushed against the computer's backside, it makes a staticy ound. I was wondering if this was a HUGE problem and what might be causing this. I thik it's either my computer or my sound card. Help? _________________ A.K.A. Spin Da Ish

It could be a few things that can cause the problem, so you may want to troubleshoot the issue.
Try to plug in your earphone/headphone into the jack.
If you hear any static noise too, then your card could have problems or your driver corrupted. You can try to reinstall the driver, and if it does not work, then you need to replace your sound card. If it is in-built into your board, then you need to contact the board's manufacturer for advise.
If you did not hear static from your earphone, then you need to check your speaker. If your speaker has separate wires for the jack, then replace the cable with a new one and try again.
If it is integrated into the speaker (most 2.0 speakers are), then you may need to contact the manufacturer of the speaker to see whether they can replace only the cables. If you do not want the hassle, then buy a new speaker. _________________ Innocent Tranquility
