Macross Frontier

From what I know Robotech is an adaptation of the original macross. The beginning is similar but it strays away to its own story. So yes, its consider a separate series.

it was the same deal with 'golions' and 'explorer watchamacaulit' which got turned into the cartoon we have known as "voltron"

they changed the term 'over technology' to 'robotech', and somehow managed to chop and mix 3 different animals together into an 85 episode chimera.

if you want the rundown, just watch the orginal macross tv series, or shortcut just watch the movie(an alternate retelling) movie II can be skipped entirely bec it is not considered part of the official timeline., then macross7(yes robotech is more bearable but this is canon to the storyline), zero is kinda like macross plus, but u might wanna see it before starting frontier.

basically robotech is not all macross material, its built from the original macross tv + 2 other anime with no relation to macross.

heck, I haven't even finished Robotech... I think I've only gone as far as when they were about to do the big battle... and then the next day it goes back to episode 1... which pissed me off to no end...

so the macross tv, macross movie, macross 7, zero and plus then on to frontier?

Hmmmmm, my background knowledge in macross consist completely of blurry childhood memories. The later macross releases like macross zero don't give much info on the macross universe.

I think the makers of macross frontier have probably considered the fact that most of the previous macross series were before the time of many of their current viewers. So i'm assuming that they're not going to rely too heavily on background knowledge.

ep7 wow now thats great animation! even if they recycled and retouched some clip its still better than the last ep, too bad from the preview it looks like itll be budget studio again for the in betweens(i hope im wrong).

well its not surprising that it can transform, but damn that was fast for a macross class battleship, it almost moves like a giant sized valkyrie, no wonder they fastened everything up before hand. but the most surprising prolly was the gay dude.. LOL he also seems to transform with the ship. ROAARz!!

ok new character insert who is he? a rogue squadron? modern day "soundforce"? or an ally protodevlin? doesnt seem to be zentradi.. and hes piloting a red valkyrie..

well so far it looks to have carried over a lot of similes with Macross7, however id rather have a "songstress" anyday than another Nekki Basara.

oh yeh, @Xristyan dont forget to watch "Flashback 2012" after the movie or original tv. i myself am stil hung up with what happened to Megaroad1. while it "disappeared into legend" im still hoping they show exactly what happened to it(or at least some traces) in some other series if not here.

Wow, episode 7 had probably the best mecha fights I can remember.

I still think they're a cutting the budget in the less important scenes. The chars look poo poo at times.

I'm gald that Alto is gunning it from the start. I was dreading one of those typical periods where at the beginning the main character can't handle the battle.

Hmmm, that guy piloting the red valkyrie is like some sort of new race. Seems to have some sort of connection to Ranka as he was playing the melody of Ranka's tribal song on his harmonica. A predictable guess would be that Ranka is actually part of their race.

The earrings may be special as well, almost as if they transfer the power of the music.

Now Ranka and Sheryl are going to have to sing everytime Alto pilots LOL.

The new guy had been in the opening so it's about time we got a look at him. I'd agree that from the way he was strapped in his mecha, that he wasn't either Zentradi nor regular human; would be interesting to see who/what he is.

Also did anyone else see Ranka's stomach glow or something? There's definitely some weird stuff going on with Ranka, the new guy, and Sheryl's ear ring.

And by the way, the coolest part of the fight was that whole Konig Monster mech. That shit blew half the Vajra fleet up with a single shot.

Also is there like a list of the songs Sheryl sings during her concert? Are there singles of em out there?

i think mikhail sniped one vajra on the head(and maybe others too), it seemed to be their weakness.. as for the others, they have a lot of spawn like mobs, thats easy enuff to shootdown.

i can only summise that they hadnt used stronger weapons during the first attack coz they might risk destroying the city in the process.

the new guys cockpit dfinitely differs, might be an advanced version of the one they were testing in macross plus. or could they be modified soldiers, as at the start of the ep they were talking about galaxy's technology and "implants".

as for the glowing thing, i hope they arent going with "spiritia" again.

Does anyone think that Mikhail might have some Zentradi in him? His ears seem pointy.

Also, I wonder if he has/will develop any romantic feelings for Lt Klan, they seem to go back a long while. 1) he likes older women, 2) He seemed quite peeved when the Lt. brought up some history about him crying when losing sight of her.

The appearance of the Konig Monster was unexpected as its a very old weapon since the first macross series.
But even being an old weapon, its still a powerful Gun platform

and yes the space mech fights in this episode is intense. the Sniping Valkyrie is quite new to macross but is a great addition to their forces.
the red valkyrie somehow reminds me of macross 7 but it cannot be possible, im only saying this 'cause its color is red

I just realised something...

When alto left his valkyrie to explode, did he manage to take the earring with him? or is it lost.......that would be a bummer.
