Wow having no prior background knowledge of the macross series except for Macross: do you remember love? I must say I was blown away by these first seven episodes. The first thing that struck me was the art, I was impressed by how high the quality was and the detailed space combat, enviorments felt alive and not like the characters were cut-and-pasted against a backdrop. While the characters felt a little used to me (I've been told their basicly copies of the original series) I enjoyed them anyway. I wonder how the love trianlge between Alto, Sheryl, and Ranka plays out, I'll be rooting for Ranka Sheryl acts a little too conceited over the fact that she is a popular singer I think. _________________ I am an invisible man. Wow, the animation last episode blew me away...for the wrong reasons. Gosh, that episode was verging on ugly at times. I'm not a stickler for brilliant animation, it's more the inconsistency that bugs me.
Ohwell, it was an amusing episode, but I don't think the episode balanced particularly well with the normal realism of macross. I love it when a serious show has a few comedic fillers, but i thought episode 8 was too over the top at times.
still not bad. I would rate the episode 2.75/5 whereas other episodes were in the 4 to 4.5 range.

The appearance of the Konig Monster was unexpected as its a very old weapon since the first macross series.
But even being an old weapon, its still a powerful Gun platform
even more amazing is the fact that it transforms now from a ship mode! quite the modification or a next gen Konig i must say!
ep8 - yes, it was another episode done by other/sub-studios, this time looks to be a chinese studio for ep 8, whereas it was a filipino studio for ep6. it might be an every other ep deal.. with the main studio focusing only on the critical/hard parts like ep7(best ep so far imo). i wonder whats next, korean perhaps...
consistency aside, that was a rather different change of pace specially coming off from something like on ep7.. well its still inside permissable territory, after surviving a difficult to watch macross7, this is still within my tolerance zone. id be lying tho if i sed i didnt enjoy it the carrot song was cute <3
well i hope they were just trying out different studios to handle the work load for the lesser episodes, but i do hope they decide on just one among them to do the rest for the sake of consistency. while ep6 animation seemed a bit stiff/crude, ep8 looked like the line drawing lacked a stable hand, the face lines were a bit rough on the curves -and both studios used thicker lines for the characters. _________________ [img:400:237:866f672f5a]http://www.geocities.com/bktabz/mari_boya.jpg[/img:866f672f5a]
Crappy animation and I now hate Sheryl even more, not much else to say. I guess my hopes were up a little high after episode 7. _________________ I am an invisible man. yeah i think Sheryl is a pretty cool as well. They're actually portraying her as a strong-willed/confident, face adversity head-on type character, which inevitably leads to moments of bimboness.
As I can understand why she's like that I don't really mind her flaws.

yeh, she worked hard to get where she is now, its not like she was born with a silver spoon and handed everything she wanted from the start, and she acts very professional, i think she lets loose some of the stress by wreaking havoc from time to time tho.
i can only guess she took up the pilot course to distract herself a bit, knowing the fate of galaxy is yet to b determined, at least she's didnt go into an emo wreck.
she's not the typical "girl in distress" type of character either.. Ranka more fits the Lyn Minmay mold than Sheryl. _________________ [img:400:237:866f672f5a]http://www.geocities.com/bktabz/mari_boya.jpg[/img:866f672f5a]

I suppose thats one way to look at it. Of course, she probably also intends on upping the level of her advances towards "slave/hime"[/spoiler]
I dunno she just irritated me from the first ep when she ran away during the first attack saying basicly "I'm too important to bother sticking around". Alto needs to just tell her to quit it already, but he's too passive. _________________ I am an invisible man. It is as though I have been surrounded by mirrors of hard, distorting glass. Man, I'm not one to complain about bad details in animation but this really sucks. Besides that eps 8 was okay. The only real good thing was
The Carrot song in the beginning.

if they had to keep true to her personality, they can't turn her into a classic anime emo girl.... But then again japanese animes often do that no matter how contracting it actually is to how they made the personality in the first place.
For now she's doing it well.
Also the animation is still very decent, i don't know where to start on the grand bias on a few changes here and there, as long the character's personality and key figures are intact there should be no need to worry nor complain about it. O.o
Expecting something like on episode 7's level each and every episode is complete insanity. You wouldn't be watching it every week then, let alone it being 26 episodes, also not to mention the funds needed.
Episodes like the 7th were meant to be special in it's own right. _________________ [img:455:210:7a59a0d190]http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/7981/smallversionkikiin9.jpg[/img:7a59a0d190]

its a fact that some episodes are being done by differing studios(if its the same studio for every ep with varying quality thats a another matter entirely). some of us do care about consistency in animation. personally macross is a high end anime to me(the whole franchise not just this frontier series -i am a longtime fan since i saw the first series and movie back in the early 90's), while the in between animation of frontier are bearable, i find nothing wrong with pointing out its defects. i also think that they have already finished most of the animationwork of this series last year. _________________ [img:400:237:866f672f5a]http://www.geocities.com/bktabz/mari_boya.jpg[/img:866f672f5a]
stop complaining about animation quality, just watch ep. 9, you won't regret it ...
ep. 9 has also much better animation, than ep. 8, it's not top notch yet, but pretty close
expected this to be another "half"-filler like ep. 8
but wow, this was imo one of the best episodes thus far... especially storytelling-wise
after watching this episode somehow I also got the feeling , that grace, sheryl's manager, has to do something with the guy in this pink/purple valkyrie? or is maybe more involved than we know now...
the nest in this spaceship reminds me of the movie alien & aliens
hope we get to see some queen soon^^
