In the U.S., there is no where on cable TV to watch anime except for Cartoon Network and sometimes there are a few anime that will occassionally air on showtime, cinemax. Other than that, if you live in the U.S., you can not get your fill of the different genres, viewings out there. In addition to that, the U.S. is a year behind!!!!!!!!! And I'm so happy that there is an hour long episode of Naruto shippudden this week! But that's off topic bc I was tired of those fillers and just needed to vent. But yea, I honestly think the U.S. should have a channel for anime. I would def praise that decision so I can get more of a fill for other genres I might want to sample. Any thoughts? _________________ I am power driven by determination. I'm adversity that you will never overcome once you're my enemy. I am all there is and every will be. Bah you dont really have anything to conplaint at least you got cartoon network ... it still better for watching anime that what most country got.
A years behind? If youre saying your a year behind Japan is kind of normal... dub are not done instentenly and furthermore comapny usually wait a little to see the response in Japan before investing in a serie.
Here you mostly got two channel that show anime YTV: that it starting to have a large diversity of mainstream things ( Eureka Seven, Gundam seed/gundam seed destiny, bleach, naruto, and I think they are starting Death note, pokemon) and Teletoon that had a wieder variety in the past but now mostly show ( not sure about this one ) naruto & pokemon?
Ytv really gave more space to anime in the recents seasons but teletoon seem to go downhile Tsk they where better when they where only playinng ninja scroll/ honeamise/ patlabor1&2/ macross plus OVA once a years... at least we had some quality.
I dont know for the USA but the major channel need to have something like +40% of the program that need to be local they show another 40% from the USA so that dont leave a lot for anime
Oh yeah I noticed that Beck was playing on much music it was kind of nice from them to follow the anime hype that going now.
But still for a specialised anime channel I have doubt that it will really work because that even in the fans theyre is a lot of them that dont really like dub so they wont watch it aniway. Second even in this time of age anime is still see by the vast majority of people as kids shows, and kids are not usually the ones that pays the cables bills so they are not really the first interest for the company that own channel ( dont know the english term) Maybe in a fews years but I dont think right now north american television is ready for a GOOD anime channel with a large variety of different things and genre.
Anyway you should be lucky here whe even have to wait 1 years from show from the united states .... that kind of a pain .... I dont even get english teletoon here so & the french one is kind of weak in variety.. come on they are still showing undergrads... every weekdays... come on how many times can you do reruns of a 13 episode series that was canceled 5 years or so ago.
Whoa this is getting long so .... anyway now it seem to be easy to find legally episode on the internet like adv do or some preview of other channel ... and if you want to know knew series it a good way to do it... or theyre walways fansub ^^
Well, it seems things are slightly better where I live (Vancouer, Canada). As the poster above me mentioned we have YTV that's currently showing stuff like Naruto, Death Note, Eureka 7 and Gundam Seed Destiny. Then we have G4TechTV Canada that has four good shows (Black Lagoon, Ergo Proxy, Last Exile and Tehxnolize) and I used to watch Samurai 7, Cowboy Bebop, Trinity Blood and Basilisk on Razor.
Also Shaw Cables has a digital channel exclusively for anime. You pay $5 monthly and can order any show on their roster online and watch anytime you want immidiately after the ordering. I had this a year ago but their selection kinda blew so I cancelled; not sure if things have changed since then or not.
But I don't really care. I can watch anything I want, anytime I want thanks to high speed internet and bittorrent so I'm good. I mean it's not like it's any different than watching it subbed on TV. Thank god for fan subs.
I currently have SciFi for AniMondays (do not watch unless a movie), EWAM for Saiyuki Reload, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Blaze & one other slice of life I have no inetrest in (actually watching Karas the Prophecy as I write this on EWAM), and of course Cartoon network.
Really wish someone (Japan) could develop an anime channel with a 72 hour delay to sub their most recent releases. I would think this would help make the anime companies monies they are currently losing.
