Personally i think I'm still to much of a casual viewer to really write a good review.
I have reviewed alot of things before, Games, Movies, certain TV shows. I find that its best to know as much as possible about what your reviewing, not just in terms of the Anime your going to review, but the genre itself. Knowing things like whats popular these days, what different style animation types there are, knowing previous works that the studio has done, and having a generally indifferent opinion on the Anime.
Even if you fell madly in love with the series its always nice to take a step back and try to see what others may not like about it to take it into consideration when writing a review.
Dunno i tend to over think things like this ^.^ The reviews I have read on here so far are fairly good, I try to see if the reviewer gave any kind of insight to what kind of viewer they are because thats important to know say if someone loved darker/sadder Anime series they would review a lighter anime differently than a fanatic who loves all the cute a giggley stuff
mmm I'm ranting.
Best time to write a review for me is shortly after I watch it so many of the obscure details are still fresh in my mind, if I wait to long I'm to inclined to forget the bad and remember the good.

Maybe its just because I'm on the reviews team, but I don't think writing a review is all that hard. Speaking of which, how did this go from random thoughts to a reviews thread. Meh.
For myself, if I like a show, I simply write a bit of what its about, what I liked about it and why, then recommend it to others. If I dislike it, I do the opposite. If its a just average show, I briefly explain why. Really simple when ya think about it.
My biggest problem right now is all the shows I mean to watch, but never have time for. I'll start a show thinking wow, this looks great. Get distracted by other things, next thing I know, the next 15 episodes have been subbed and released, and I haven't watched any of them. I've gone ahead and Downloaded them as they've come out, just not watched them. Sky Girls TV is like that for me. I enjoyed the first episode, then haven't ever managed to get around to watching the rest of it, despite the fact that another 23 episodes or so, plus 2 specials have come out. I might end up hating the show, but I won't know til I actually bother to watch it.
Just a few of the shows I have yet to finish.
