|
|
Anybody know how I can get rid of the Low ID status?
So far I've open and forwarded the ports on both the XP and 3rd party firewall that I use.
However when I test the ports with eMule it says that the ports are still being blocked by a firewall.
Any ideas on a solution? It's driving me up the wall as both my download and upload speeds rarely go above 2Kb/s! |

| Check that windows default wirewall is turned of and if you use a software firewall e.g zonealarm make sure it allows incoming connections from emule. Check also that you added the right port number to the tcp and udp of emule. |

I've made an exception in the XP firewall for eMule ant the ports they are using.
I'm using Sysgate software for my firewall and it allows incoming connection from eMule.
Have double check the port numbers and they're the same all around. |

Hmm three stupid suggestions because i ran out of ideas
1. Have you tried restarting your pc / restarting emule?
2. Downloaded a different version of emule?
3. Disable and reconnect your internet connection? |

Thanks DrJackal.
I've done 1 and 3 previous to posting this thread. Also uninstalled and re-installed eMule. There is no difference. |

1. Select another server.
2. Depending on the server configuration, you might want to turn the "Check Low SmartID" or other things in Preferences on or off, there are various guides on the web to aid you in deciding to do so. |

Thanks Yebyosh.
1. Tried that already, no effect.
2. Played around with the Low SmartID as you suggested, also no difference.
I also did a trail run by setting the port to 80 but I still get the message that it is being blocked by a firewall! |

| Another stupid suggestion because a lowid is a pain in the ass, have you tried experimenting with different port numbers and forwarding them? like the default port num 4663. What type of internet connection do you have? |

Thanks DrJackel.
I've actually changed my port to 4225. Will set it back to the default and see what happens.
I'm on broadband 512/256k.

No, I'm not behind a router. I have a direct connection.
Also I have a new problem. After many tries of tweaking the prefenence, eMule has crashed. I have uninstalled it, reboot my PC (both cold and warm), installed it back but now every time I start eMule, I will get an error message and the eMule window will close. |

Hmmm, this could be serious.
What version of eMule are you using?
I am using eMule Plus version 1.1 at the moment.
I am also running it off as a binary without using their installer ( i.e. simply downloading the binary and executing it )
Try doing a manual clean install, i.e.
1. Uninstall the application
2. Run Regedit, search and delete any "eMule" references.
3. Do a binary install ( i.e. download the binary, unzip it into the folder you wish to run eMule out of, just run eMule.exe to run the program ) |

I'm running eMule 0.44d Unicode.
Got it to work for a while after I deleted the eMule directory but once I closed eMule and opened it again, I got the same error message.
Thanks Yebyosh, will do as you have suggested. Hopefully everything will work out fine this time round! |

Downloaded and installed eMule Plus 1.1. I've got the green light now, so status is ok.
Thanks again Yebyosh, your suggestions worked. |

| I'm using the normal version of emule v0.30b, i suggested getting different versions of emule with or without mods but that didn't work. Congrats for getting a high id with emule plus , i thought it the low id problem was to do with the hardware but it's the software. |
