After watching the two episodes, Spice and Wolf (Wolf and Spice) proves interesting enough to watch on a weekly basis.
I'm not so much as interested in Lawrence's emotional relationship w/ Horo but rather his business relationship. As of now, Lawrence sees Horo as nothing more than a business investment. This became more clear in the scenes where Lawrence was discussing trade w/ the vineyard guy and the conversations with Horo regarding her sense for honesty.
I imagine Horo probably knows this as she confronted his questions with some of her own regarding his handling of any given situation pointing out that his instincts serve his intent much better than reliance on her to make every decision. I wouldn't blame him though. The world would be much easier to navigate if you could truly tell who is speaking the truth.
Lawrence seems rather cynical; at least as cynical as any good businessman should be. If the series steers more toward his trade ventures, I'd like to see how they would make economics interesting. I rather enjoyed the explanation of bartering Lawrence gave to the vineyard keeper and hope they keep future conversations such as this from being too stale or sleep inducing (as most conversations such as this usually are in reality).
I'm almost certain we'll be seeing more of Chloe and I do hope she becomes a rival to Lawrence rather than part of some love triangle.
Finally, there's Horo. The self prolaimed "wise" diety who wants to go back home. Her personality reflects more of a fox than a wolf to me seeing as she exudes an air of mischief. I wonder about how much of a guide she will be to Lawrence. Like I said before, her sense for honesty is quite valuable and it has already been employed by Lawrence to gain profit. Does she have any other motives for going North rather than just wanting to go home? Will she be a financial advisor of sorts or will she let Lawrence make his own mistakes along the way?
The OP is peaceful and soothing. I like it.
Don't watch this for fanservice. You're going to be dissapointed. Horo is a sight for sore eyes but let's not make her nude scenes a weekly thing, okay? I'm all for Chloe anyways. I hope she leaves Lawrence in the dust and runs a successful store. Playing it safe gets you nowhere. Risk takers for the win. |

pesonally i enjoy the art in this anime
and the fan service was something i didn't think happen a lot these days
tho normally i am disgusted at the fan service that happen normally in anime
they gave a good one that i dont feel disgusted
and i kinda like how lawrence react to that
looking at how normally they show a person with Extreme Nosebleed(gosh how i hate it so much) _________________ Haruhi: "Crab is a no-no. Picking the flesh out of the shell drives me nuts. Why crabs make their shells hard? How come they evolve like that?"

| The preview for the 4th ep looks very enticing.
Seems like they're going to develop our two heroes for a future relationship... which will probably end with Horo getting home, and Lawrence moving on.
This is a prediction! Not a spoiler! But I'll put the spoiler tags on it anyway. |

I'm with you right there. First time I saw it, maybe it was funny. The 10th time you see that, even if its in a different show, sorry, now its stupid. Come up with something original, PLEASE! Regarding fanservice, this is my main gripe with the show, as someone else said, editing the breasts so they don't have nipples... If you're going to show them, at least make them real. Otherwise don't bother with them at all.
Overall, I'm enjoying this one. After 3 episodes, this one has become the first of the new series that I'll definitely keep watching. Though the very surprising True Tears is right there too. |

I'm not much of a fan of commerce and business but they do explain a good portion of bartering and the business dealings of back in the day... Though i don't think i will be able to watch this if they just go by that... _________________

The economics are the main appeal for me. I hope it is the primary focus with whatever relationship might form between Lawrence and Horo being a distant second. Also, bring back Chloe real soon!
This series already has its own dedicated section on the animesuki forums. Prepare for walls and avatars galore, especially since you have Horo as a subject. |

I find Horo's character to be very... refreshing.
A lot of the female roles I've seen lately are all... shy, energetic, prone to embarrassing situations...
Horo presents a stark contrast, and I feel that it's needed. Maybe it's just me, but I really appreciate her character. |

Episode 4.
I'm an absolute retard when it comes to economics (especially when it comes to exchange currency values), but MAN this shows cool! Everything in this show is so new and interesting to me! _________________

hmm .. what an interesting turn of events...
sooo we learn there are might be more "gods" then just horo (as she mentioned the different names .. though it could easily just be the different people she's met) .. but with how she was captured .. i would assume it wasn't to get lawrence .. but to get her .. meaning there is someone who knew about her and that she's actually a wolf .. which leads me to believe (going off her reaction at the end of the episode) .. that that person who she saw might have been one of her preivous companion .. O_O
.. as it was said numerous times .. this show is good and getting better .. XD |

i think those names horo mentioned..
are probably her siblings/relatives or something plus we know she's not really a god (she sed so herself)...
i also think those who captured her have a different purpose, but... if that is true why did they chase lawrence as well when they already caught her? also... why did they send a letter of warning in regards to a captured wolf..
horo being a wolf and all was captured easily enuf? i hope they do explain why she was captured so easily..

I don't have the time to look back for the name of the character, but I think that the person who captured Horo was the female from the farm town who had that crush on Lawrence. Horo seemed to recognized the character before the episode ended, so thats my current theory.
The reason is that before Lawrence left town he mentioned that having Horo the wolf as a partner may be interesting. My assumption is that she followed them, or had someone follow them and some how found out about her ears or tail or something. She became angry and is now taking it out on Horo and Lawrence.

Hello!
I downloaded the fifth episode (BSS, h264), but it doesn't have subs only during the OP/ED. DirectVobSub doesn't detect any subs.
Has this happened to others too? Can someone help me? _________________ Dv |

07cbdj, my computer is too old to handle .h264 vids, so I cannot assist you there. I imagine trying a different player or perhaps d/l the file again. I do know you can download it directly from their website, so you won't have to wait too long (six minutes for me, I believe).
Anyways, on to episode 6 business:
Horo layeth the smackdown on Chloe.
The world is now a better place.
Chloe, I'm ashamed of you. I expected better from you. |
