yes weve seen this happen time and time again... but dammnit all!!!

to everyone that has seen the original mini series, i think most of you'll agree that animationwise its quite a masterpiece, that theme and setting, music and everything is set just right and exact for that kind of world.

this new series however... lets just say its a totally different kind of look alltogether..

so the sudio probably isnt the same, the action looks cheap. they even pitched in cheap comedy in the middle of a fight.(talking about the vespa here)

and the girls, the lineart changed, theyve upped the moe/loli factor quite a few notches.. somehow its not the same show anymore.. even their fratello looks more bishounen-ish.

i seriously hope that they dont consider this as the actual "continuation" to 'gunslinger girl' its better of as a standalone "new" series, since they cant really do justice to the original. its like blood and blood+ all over again.

what do u guys think? personally if i havent seen the original, ill prolly think this series is "ok" generally speaking the animation wasnt enuff to blow me away in the first place.. its an average action moe girl series -would be my first impression if i hadnt seen the original.

Could explain why I'm not getting that kind of a feel from the prequel. I don't know how to explain it (the prequel) since it had been awhile since I last saw it, but if you guys saw it, then you guys should probably know what I'm talking about.

There is one major thing that really ticks me off for some reason and that is the voice of Henrietta. Is it me or her voice is a bit too high for her character? It's giving me the creeps.

^its probably coz they used different seiyuu for all the girls on this new series(i think all the voices have been recast as well).

dunno.. it just seemed less serious than the original series. i cant really feel the air of seriousness from the girls anymore.. plus theyre acting all cute and stuff now. last i remember they dont emote as much coz they like take pain killers all the time? as their body breaks down or somethin. yeh i guess thts pretty fuzzy my memory is failing me(it has been so long 5 years to be exact) but i do remember a distinct feel of the original is lost.

I so agree with you'll on this one.

All the things that made the original a good watch are sadly missing from here!

What on earth gave them the great idea to change things that actually worked? It's like this takes place in a parallel world. *STOMPS FEET* It's not the same. Give it back to me with the original look and feel and voice actors! Unless something happens to improve the current series (which I'm already doubting) this is a tragedy in the making.

I missed the girls as they were from their eyes to their voices and to their behaviours. It all seems just wrong.

I actually like it so far. It still has most of the original feel to me. There were episodes where they acted cute in the original series. And this was not really over the top cute they still shot the hell out of people with no remorse.

Rico was the only one actually being cute in this episode. But she also had a cute episode where she was crushing on the bell hop but in the end she finished him off no questions asked. And she always acted girly around her handler.

Triella is a bad ass with her shotty and Claes is still the brainy one who answers the others girls questions so they still seem the same to me. As for Henrietta she seems the same as well they ended the series with her liking Joze and it continues to this new series.

I just marathon the original series three days ago and it seems they are showing the girls more human sides first for those who watched the orginal series. But will see you guys may be right though.

ive got a lot of nitpicks on ep3...

how to put it... it just seems too unbelievable, the script conversations, the scenes.... lacks common sense.. the characters talk a little too much.. they were talking about need to know stuff out in the open at the hotel while walking the corridor.. than they became cautious when they went into the room.. that just doesnt seem right..

triella planted the bug inside the little girls food basket, she just dropped it in like that.. had the person they were looking for took food from the basket then the bug would be clearly seen.. and would potentially risk the girls life if that woulda happen(but that didnt happen she found a gun and got tied up instead..).. >_> and Triella's handler is supposta be a former detective my ass..

the supposed "hideout/base op/safehouse" of pino - the front door was conveniently unlocked.. normally if ppl are planning some terrorist stuff.. shldnt they be cautious enuff to lock the friggin door??! and weapon on table covered by cloth.. why even cover it.. its like their expecting people to come in so they hide the weapon with cloth.. -_- even i am amazed by this logic..

this studio/director and/or scriptwriter didnt do proper research unlike the ones who did the original.

the action was lame as well.. the girls of the first season usually shoot first/talk later.. triella is an assassin, all the girls are.. why was she askin em to drop their weapons.. if their mission was to ask questions, she shldve shot disabled the enemies first, shoot an arm or leg. and why use a shotgun?? oh wait i forgot, she was sent in to "rescue the girl"... huh? WHY? . . . -_-

and the friggin girl/confused hostage.. makes no sense, they(the terrorists) end up rescuing her.. thats just totally messed up..



and lastly the op, they shldve made a decent one by now... animationless op, just a bunch of pictures mushed in damn lazy studio...

im at the verge of despair here over this show.. and alot of the fans of the original are also disgusted by this, proof are the number of blog entries that have a side by side screenshot comparison of the old and the new GG. it has been moetized beyond reasonable doubt. not only the animation but the character personalities and seiyuu as well. am really disappointed by their fratello they're now just a sissy shell of their former self.

sooo...i decided to hold off watching this series till i re-watched the first one since it's been so long since i last saw it .. and ... it was a mistake ..

as it was said in several posts above .. the first one was amazingly done.. with the new series .. in terms of animation, style, feel; it's all different. the characters themselves seems less "real" .. it feels almost, dare i say, cartoonish ..

i'll probably continue watching for the simple reason it's a "continuation" .. but i can already tell i won't be enjoying it as much as the first one..

I just watched the original gunslinger girl yesterday, and I got half way through the first episode of this new gunslinger girl and I came on here to post what everyone has already said. This show is terrible compared to the first. Everytime I see Henrietta act the new way and her new voice I just want to slap her. The artwork reminds me of Shakugan no Shana, nothing like the original artwork that helped create that sad and somber mood. The music is horrendous and detracts from the original feel the anime had. For a show with no real plot that delivered on emotional impact, the look, feel, and sound needs to be perfect and it's not. I don't think I can force myself to watch this show.

And another thing, they've taken this whole loli shit too far. They've retreated so far from reality it's no longer even enjoyable to watch. I'm tired of seeing all these geeks on here talking about anime girls. It's a fucking cartoon.

As someone who hated the first Gunslinger Girls, I have to admit, hearing all this negativity kind of makes me happy. After the first one, I had no interest in watching its sequel. Still, I'm rather glad that the creators of the sequel weren't up to the task. Though for you fans of the original, horrible depressing anime, I do feel for you. I just hope the shows I enjoy that are getting a sequel will do better then the creators of this one did.

again stupid stupid stupid... even the little details of gun usage are wrong,.. u barely see any blood anymore, plus henrietta's new face is annoying, she's so happy giddy now.. and triella is now just your average typical archetype tsundere character.

yeh i know its all complaints, and i guess at this point ill just have stop watching this series.

as someone who has seen alot(starting from 80's animes) GS was a good refresher few years back.. now its just another one of those typical gun loli moe moe fanboy shows..

Yep, I got half way through the first episode and then deleted the few episodes I had. Don't want to ruin the original by watching this shit. Worst sequel ever.
