just finished watching the first 3 episodes (and read about the lisencing announcement, haha).
others have already mentioned the more than passing resemblence to shows like kino no tabi and shinigami ballad (i'd also offer up jikogu shoujo). shigofumi's episodic/mini-arc setup with few recurring characters and generally emotion packed stories place it squarely along side the others of the same genre.
i'm enjoying the show, thus far. the stories are extremely well-written, getting across the general happenings as well as packing in plenty of character development in a very concise time slot. much like single-serving tv dinners, you start the episode, jump right into the meat of the story, watch it unfold, grow attached to the characters, then let them go as the episode finishes out.
the constant haze of repetitiveness and tired cliches will always hang over these kinds of shows (really, how many sobs stories can you hear about student suicides before you close your ears?), but i think the writers have been pretty decent about maintaining good quality scripts, even trodding over weary ground. the show's projected length (12-13 episodes) should also help ensure that it doesn't get too bogged down with rehashes before it ends. _________________
so given the type of show this was .. i wanted to make sure i stocked a few episodes before watching .. (and of course the last one had a HUGE cliff hanger) .. but mehhhh .. anyway ..
i'm like the story telling A LOT .. the writers / animators seem to have no trouble what-so-ever in delivering a happy go lucky type of episode that suddenly switches to something incrediby dark .. in a blink of an eye ..
it's at the point where i'm constantly guessing each episode how it'll end in what manner: good or bad. where of course it usually always leads to bad (depending on how you look at it of course) .. the thrill of watching it is fun ..
then you add in our shigofumi delivery girl: fumika. her mysterious past is also very interesting .. why does she age? who is this "other half" .. were they twins? or is fumika the lost "soul" of the gilrl in the hospital? my my this is getting interesting .. can't wait for more!!
awww seems not many watch this (or comment at least) .. = (
So far, I like it.. has some nice twists, can be a bit slow at times but not it's not excruciating... _________________ "Faith may not move mountains, but you should see what it does to skyscrapers..."

the series definitely deserves a second glance, while im tired of seeing all these moe girl x murder combos, this series does have some nice stories to tell, ep1 was like "whut... that again?" to me. ep2 convinced me otherwise...
i really enjoy the light episodes the series have, contrast to what i thought was another typical genre at least they know how to close each arc well and balance the presentation.. ep 1 was just to grab the audience's attention is suppose, however for tired fans that(all of it) was so "full of it"... anyways, just glad i continued watching. _________________ [img:400:237:866f672f5a]http://www.geocities.com/bktabz/mari_boya.jpg[/img:866f672f5a]
