IB Anime essay

I'm doing my extended essay for the IB diploma. Sad

Some of you may know what that is. (it's 4000 word essay Shocked

). Does anyone have ideas for an anime and manga topic. Thanks for the help.

Why anime has yet to be able to break into mainstream in North America? Not sure, coming up with topics isn't that hard. The real question is if you'll be able to come up with 4,000 words about those topics.

You could always browse around anime forums, there many topics scattered through the internet about certain issues regarding anime. Lol having said that I don't have anything at the top of my head. But good luck with the essay.

Maybe writing a report about anime fan & their culture would be interesting.... because a lot of people have different perception on us anime fan.... i used to write an essay about Hikkikomori and Welcome to NHK! well it was a bad piece haha...

quite a dive there. o___o planning ahead for second year?
probably best if you relate it to something 'important'
cultural effects it has, the symbolism, or maybe how
the art form started and developed into what it is today?

Maybe you can write something about anime's effect on other mainstream media like movies from hollywood etc.

The problem is that I have to compare the manga to an English language book because the manga is not originally written in English

Don't know if this is too late for your essay, but the unique things about Anime that I really appreciate are the crazy action and crazy slap-stick comedy scenes that might be hard to produce in "live action". I find that Ninja Scroll movie, EVA, Claymore level action is as satisfying as many of the live action scenes that are similar. And the "Mask" level slap-stick is pretty common in lots on Anime.

The other thing about Japanese Anime that is real impressive is the super strong emotions that seem to be able to be portrayed in intense series like Elfen Lied. You just don't often find this level of intensity and variety of strong emotions in most live action stuff.

how about 'misconceptions about anime". like how anime isnt just for kids, and that it can actually be considered work of literature( eg xxxholics) or deep issues discussed , learning points and stuffs (historical refrences, arts etc )

I know what ib is and I don't think you should do it on Mangas or animes cause you would end up making a resume of the story. Instead I suggest you to take the key elements in some controversial/philosophical issues in some animes. Dont try giving an example out of animes its not too reliable... Try death note! I know someone who actually did an essay on it in TOK.

ya but really do something dat really interests you bout anime
cuz if u pick something dats easy or something dat ur not really
interested in its gonna suck...btw is there a mentor dat can help
you out? dats wat id be worried bout
