The whole mood is like the movie "Interview with the Vampire", still one of my favourite movies, when it comes to the vampire theme, plots, and story.
I guess the doll scene, of Yuuki, is what we get of her in level E state, with Kaname hiding her away, because she has pretty much become nothing more than with an instinct to feed ect.?
After all, who knows, the doll's eyes might tell a story of the past...
I wonder if it'll play out just like the movie, after all Kaname and Zero resemble the two vampires along with the vampire girl and the young womans' tale...
But if this vampire anime is going to be as good i think, then it will have a sad ending. But i haven't read the manga and will try my best not to sooooo....
Anyone else ever wonders about the last sentence in every episode? It just awfully reminds me of a Vampire telling his/her tale....

i agree that a sad ending is clearly the better choice for this series...
well, simple may it seems, I like how there is the gunshot heard as it interludes to the OP
and yes, I doubt this one will have a happy ending.
That "I'll show you..." gave this series a certain surreal feel.

I vote happy ending. If its anything like the previous work by the manga's artist, then it probably will have a happy ending. But theres always a first.

Resist the urge! I read the manga and I'm feeling that the anime is not quite as good now that i know what's going to happen. Ohwell, stopped reading a while back, and the anime is catching up to where i left off, so it'll be all fresh and new soon enough.
hehe yeah i know what you mean, ignorance is bliss when it comes to anime/manga "reading ahead". =S
But with the latest episode, we at least get a clear picture why Kaname treats Yuuki so special and why Yuuki, might have feelings fore him, instead of the rather plain; "oh! you saved me! me love you!", as we see here and there these days.
Also i can only recommend "Interview with the Vampire", if you are digging Vampire Knight for now. Those two seem to go hand in hand, when it comes to the charm of vampire theme and more believable story. Also see it this way, it's the one movie with both Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise(when he was a good actor), Kirsten Dunst (lil girl), Antonio Banderas, and Christian Slater...
turned a little off-topic with the last piece but yeah, it will take you a little more into the vampire world and how it might actually be, instead of those gothic or punkaged vampire themes we see mostly. xD _________________ [img:455:210:7a59a0d190]http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/7981/smallversionkikiin9.jpg[/img:7a59a0d190]

Honestly quite enjoying this anime at the moment. Plot's started to move along, we start to get to see Kaname's side of the story. More angsty love triangle + a couple of others on the side to come.
I think I'm gonna hate that chick they showed in the last couple minutes of episode 8 ... she seems annoying already ... like the two-faced backstabbing type. _________________ Get ready to vote for who you think is the Sexiest Anime Character!!

you talkin about ruka? yep she looks like the type who would give yuuki a hard time imo.
I hope the new lady is as sadistic and evil i think she is. _________________ [img:455:210:7a59a0d190]http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/7981/smallversionkikiin9.jpg[/img:7a59a0d190]

What kind of VP do you think the new girl is? She seems to show an interest in Zero, so she must have something to do with his past. I can't wait for the next episode!

Lol yup, basically the type you just want stab in the eye with a pen maybe that's just me? xD _________________ Get ready to vote for who you think is the Sexiest Anime Character!!
luckily she's not quite a loli girl but rather on the same age/appearance as Yuuk.
But now it'll be very interesting for sure, episode 9 was quite amusing. _________________ [img:455:210:7a59a0d190]http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/7981/smallversionkikiin9.jpg[/img:7a59a0d190]
Posted: Tue Jun 03, 2008 6:13 pm Post subject: On the psychology of shojo
There’s a question I been wondering about... a question of the human nature and the shojo animes and mangas...
It goes like this:
To make shonen manga you put a average guy surround by beautiful girls in love with him for no particular reason. You will expect the average viewer to identify with the protagonist and exploit his loneliness or something. Then you throw in some ecchi and some monsters and ta-da, anime on wheels.
Very simple.
Shojo manga, however, is another deal: (some) shojo manga has its bishonen reversed harem, with all the personalities (the bad, the cool, and the cute) that seem to come out an of NSYNC manager draft table.
But that’s not all. The guys need to be rich, popular and admired. Till that point is reasonable.
Yet shojo turns to a dark point when it considers other women. The reversed harem has to have a million of mindless fans. Such things in a shonen would likely turn the viewer down, for a girl with too much competition means ( in evolutionary psychology context, I suppose) a lot of fighting, so the rivals are at max one ( Shuffle! as a special case, but then again , its the shojo of shonen) and easily beatable, although far better than the protagonist.
It seems they try to exploit a secret need of the female viewers of overcoming their female rivals by having a private access to the harem.
They and only they, are the chosen ones by the super idol gods.
Now to this point I made it through explaining most mangas in evolutionary( and slightly sexist) terms way as a mean to exploit basic needs of humans beings. Such pattern can be found in several animes (Ouran, Yamato Nadeshiko, VK) and it all fits with the theory.
Yet there’s something the theory can’t explain. Why to add Yuri to shojo? Really, slightly hints of yaoi make sense, but yuri?Think of Ouran and the academia girls.
Do they add them to please male viewers? or in the context, does it mean that secretly, all girls...
Sorry, shonen thinking. In case you are wondering why I ask this, check out the VK OP in chapter 9.
A display of Yaoi in shonen will make viewers kill themselves (After Evangelion the rates of suicides went up 30% , or so i think. People thought it was because of the deep themes.. they were wrong.)
Then, why Yuri is so common in shojo? What does that tell about us as a species?
To put it simple: shoujo is more romanced-based, because girls are considered the more emotional ones. Shounen is action-based, for obvious reasons.
so with the issue of Yuri/Yaoi, it's the same (or at least similar)
and oh, yuri isnt just favored by guys, or only guy. There are girls who like yuri too.
