Konbanwa~
I wish to write this in Japanese T__T
This isn't the subject here. Well, a question!
Is it true that if you repeated saying things they'll happen?
I mean my bro used to say that he's sick as a joke and after a while, not long, he really got sick. I heard that if you said your sick, you'll become one. Note, say not pretend.
Today I was singing a song about a man who's been left alone (I'm so good in singing *stands up*don't believe me) and suddenly my mum told me to stop or else it'll truly happen to me as it did to him.
So what do you think? is it true or...? _________________ "Blogger"
I would call this NLP
Not really sure about your situation, ult, but when someone call himself something and kept repeating it, it'll eventually happen. Not like a magic happen by itself but hmm...heres the situation
For example, person A kept calling person B a childish, as a nickname or according to certain situation, then with time person B will be programmed and start to act childish. Honestly this always happen around me.
You might books talking about it. I usually do that when my friends play games with me. encouraging others to be down work well. Some people are exception who have a strong well.
NLP breaks the will of people inside them. Also one can do that by himself. My Dr. said that parents in her hometown always say to their children that your gonna be adoctor and most of people there are doctors.
Now back to your situation, ult, I don't think singing a song of anything would make it come true. Repeat as much as you want but if people were annoyed by your song and wished you to be lonely or whatever the that something else hehe =P
Repeating anything wont make things happen but might creat an imagintive scene that makes you feel it might happen. _________________
Not all what you think is right is supposed to be right.
Well, repeating that you're sick over and over can make you really sick. This is true.
Repeating anything over and over won't make it come true. This works only with things that you or your mind/body can make true. So this can affect your health and something like this is used in medicine too.
I don't think singing a song would have the same effect.
I would have to say no, more in a general sense then anything.
In some cases, I guess it would be possible. There are times when somebody repeats something enough to themselves they may actually start to believe that it's true. But that's more of a delusion so you can't say that it would be the truth.
Also, illnesses can be caused in the same way. I do believe in "mind over matter' somewhat. Like how you can fake being sick by tricking your body into believing it is (like making yourself feel nauseous).
However, in general, repeating something over an over again will not make that event happen just by saying the words. I mean, if you keep repeating to yourself over and over again that you will be rich and successful in life, that likely won't happen unless you make the effort to reach that status (as awful as that is for us lazy people out there )
As for what trueline said, that I agree with. If a person is labelled as something, they more often then not will "become" that label. Words are strong in such a way that if you pound a thought into somebody enough it probably will get implanted in their brain. But is that caused by the words itself? I still feel that more often then not, words are only as strong as the actions put behind them. The tone in how it was spoken, the physical gestures made by the individual when saying it. It's those things that really have an impact on how we interpret what is being said to us and how we react to it.
Anyways, what I interpret your question as being is that if somebody is nonchalantly repeat something (such as you with your song) continuously, would that make the event happen? To that I would have to say no (unless you're a magical being chanting a spell ~_^)

if you repeat something over and over there's a high chance that the listener will begin to believe and behave as such and in some instances, depending on their effort, cause it to become more likely to occur. it's based on the concept of visualization.
there's a study about these 20 pilots of equal calibre separated into 2 groups. group a was told that they were the best of the best and b was told that they were medicore. at the end of the training, group a consistently preformed better than group b. it's called a self-fulfilling prophecy
this only works if it depends on the effort of the listener. if you repeat something outside of their control (like for the sky to melt into a sticky marshmallow goo) it's not going to happen. there's a bit of controversy regarding the body and how it's autonomic vs. conscious control, but there's a correlation that if you want to live, you'd stand a much higher chance of living than if you wanted to die, given the same level of triage as another individual. illness is kinda funky too, like a placebo and a malcebo.
unless you have an affinity for the man in the song, repeating it over and over isn't going to change the likelihood of the event...except that having someone repeat a song over and over is really creepy.

it is true, thats called ............. ammmmmm............... aight! so, i dont know how its said in english, but in spanish its "Somatizar", maybe its Somatize in english? sounds familiar? no? well, ive studied this process. let me explain.
the brain works as a super computer, and you know very well that a PC can be programmed by entering a command.
in programming language:
IF "certain act" THEN "this precie response"
when you finish doing all the programming, you save them and then run your program! the brain works the same way and its commands are stored in the subcouncious.
and how do you input a command on someone or your own brain? the most effective way is while sleeping, thats why the hipnotizer make you sleep, like in the catoons! xD
why while sleeping? because the brain gets into a state called "alpha", this is the state where dreams are produced, so! sometimes dreams look like reality, right? and some times you have like premonitions or visions of the future. in this state, whatever the brain sees, it will take it as if its real and it will create a series of commands to respond to that kind of situations. due to this, when you wake up, when you are councious your body will start answering to the commands your brain subcounciounsly will give.
this programming its mostly use for health issues. if someone has, lets say.......cancer, the most common thing. you make the person fall into the alpha state and you start programing him or her to fight the cancer.
for instance:
"see the ill cell, visualize the ill cell and shrink it. shrink it and shrink it until it dissapears. now visualize yourself healthy, in the best of conditions and feeling better, better and better"
since the person is dreaming, he or she will dream himself as you have told him to. his/her brain will take all this visions as true and it will start acting right away.
as its used to help curing a disease it can work the other way around too, of course, no person with moral values would program someone to make him sick. that would be attrocious, but reapeting something its a way of programing also. so, if you say
"im sick, im sick, im sick, im sick"
you are programming yourself to get sick, you will start believing you are sick and your brain will think you are sick, so it will start sending sicking commands.
when someone tells you "think positive", think positive coz positive will happen to you.
i think ive explain somewhere in this site about how dreams come true, well, if you program yourself so your ultimate dream comes true, somehow the brain will start atractting situations that are commonly called "coincidence". one after another until you find yourself living the very thing you dreamed.
the funny fact is, this wont and will never work, it will never give you true happines if you dream only for your own sake. im not joking, nope im not on drugs, i love my familly and myself too much as too fall for that piece of shit. your dreams will only come true if it helps someone else
-i want to have money!
-why?

-why?
-to make a foundation to help the ones in need.
-thats nice, here a nickel!
-cheap bastard!
-hey! its a start
-.........yeah!
so yeah sommy, thats my explanation and once again, nope its not fiction, they are facts, believe me. ive seen it happening. _________________

::checks bank account:: nope, hasn't worked yet.
anyway, what you are describing is called "self-fulfilling prophecy." If someone believes something to be true even if it's not, after hearing it time and time again, they will become it. The most popular study is done with "fast-track" and "remedial" classes of kids. Students put in the "smart" classes acted smart while kids put in the "dumb" classes though they were dumb. The study was truly blind though since the kids were just divided up randomly.
So in your situation, a person can become sick over time if they always think they are sick. These things are usually more psychologically-based than physically-based, but the later is not impossible since psychosymatic (sp?) illnesses do exist. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)
yeah, and such topics/concepts are especially popular in works of Literature, in the form of "full filing prophecy" . (like how the charac desperately tries not to believe whats being made in the prophecy, tries to avoid it but ends up falling to it.)
In short, it all goes down to one thing : human psychology/ subconsciousness .
xeno>>>LOL ( though in a way, repeats of hoping to end up as a millionaire is a somewhat diff issue ... ... XD )

Have you ever read the story of "The boy who cried wolf"?
I can assure with my negative amount of college degrees that it normally occurs when you falsely claim a negative/malicious statement (trust me, i have a negative amount of college degrees, remember?).

Doesn't work with me. No matter how many time I say and pretend to be sick, I don't become one T____T
This programming system is somehow difficult...

Thanks for the explanation ^^
But I don't think all of them facts. Some are and some aren't. I mean there are many things won't happen even if you repeated it over and over again, right? It maybe because the repeating is weak or the person is ...well, non effect able? orsomethinglikethat ;>.> this is embarrassing
boi~>>>Your right.
I think its hard not to think negatively especially when it comes about degrees -___-;
I can remember that one day I was sure that I would succeed and I fail. When I thought that I'd fail, I succeeded ^^;
It works with me the other way around...I think? _________________ "Blogger"
Predicting bad things usually happen thats why we have to be optimistic~
That's true, but...hmm...I was thinking along a different mind frame. I was trying to say that words said in a certain way usually have more of an impact than words that were said with no feeling behind it. If that makes sense at all....
For example, I have a habit of calling people an idiot (usually to my friends and siblings) but when I say this, it's clear that I'm joking. So they take no offense to it because the word in that context holds no real "meaning" to it.
But if I said it in a condescending tone then it may generate a negative reaction from the person I'm saying it to. So the point I was trying to make was the words themself don't really hold any power but when paired with the "action" in which the words were said, that's when you tend to get a reaction (positive or negative) with it. Bleh...I'm confusing myself now... @_@

Lol, that's the same for me. It's a twisted ritual I use when going into exams. No matter how much I've studied and prepared I feel for it...I always think to myself "man, I'm going to bomb" this...and strangely enough it gets rid of my jitters and I end up doing fine ^_^
