long forgotten mecha show! does someone know it??

well i was watching gundam 00 and for some strange reason i had a deja vu thing going on and i remembered the story of mecha series i watched in the mid 90s when i was pretty young >.> i remembered story but not the name ..

if u have the time to spare cud ya read this short synopsis from my deep latent cerebral ... well whateva

basically there are a huge bunch of ppl travelling thru space and their learder is this failrly young girl (princess?) well anyway, while they are travelling (to find new plant to live on?) they are frequently attacked by random dudes

when they get attack 3 mechs are sent out to defend it , one lion mech type thing andthe others i cant remember. BUT once in a while when the 3 defenders are in trouble a random white mech appears , saves the day and disappears...

eventually they find out the white mech is stored inside the ship and on of the guys in the ship is the pilot but is unaware, and he has this pendant thingy which lights up to tell him when the white mech has to be used...


thats all i remember of the show , it was on cartoon network ... but if someone recognises this , i will be much obliged if u could tell me thx!!
