| If anyone is up for depressing animes, Saikano is the way to go! It's a romancer anime for the most part though. Another good series is "Now and then, here and there", that's mostly about war and ALOT of violence, implicit rapes and etc. Another sad series as well... |

If you say "faithful" as in a direct one-to-one adaptation, then I might say it's a pretty small chance
Trying to cram a 5-volume manga into a 13 episode was already hard enough (got to say, they did that quite good though), but cramming it into a one-hour-and-a-half movie might seem a bit... out. _________________ ... |

Yeah....thats true....probably why live action films of anime tend to fail....
But gotta say....the CGI in the trailer I saw was breath taking.... |

www.animeondvd.com gave all four volumes great scores (A- A- A+ A+ respecitvely) and I've heard great praise for it other places too. I'm so glad the complete collection is out now. Once I put together the $54.99 for it, I'm all over this one. Didn't realize this was a Shinkai production, that just sweetens the deal! _________________

| ahh this anime was just too much, there isnt much to the plot itself since they dont even reveal what teh war is about, or teh details about why she was a military weapon, they focused on the bond of the deep character relationships that were built |
