Synopsis & Reviews @ Anime-Source.com
I was digging around the animeondvd.com forums for info on Kotoko's new album when I came across the Madlax thread and decided to take a look. After reading that Kajiura Yuki (.hack/Noir) was doing the OST and Yuuka/Fiction Junction (Gundam SEED "Akatsuki no kuruma") was doing the OP/ED I figured it might be worth checking out simply for the music.
In the end I was fairly surprised with how it turned out. If you enjoyed Noir I'm thinking that the director is shooting for (pun intended) that kind of formula again in this series, with a little twist.
The episode played out very James Bond-ish, of course with the gal being the Bond. Assasin/secret agent stuff. The thing that set the character apart from Mireille is that she seemed a little more open and playful than simply strictly buisness (Which is also very Bond-like come to think of it...) This more playful (But not full out typical anime slap stick humor mind you) side could be interesting to see unfold. (Part of what bugged me about Noir was that the gals always seemed so cold.)
To top it all off it is looking like she is going to be getting her "partner" in the next episode as well.
Also the ED sequence was very Bond-ish as well with the whole nekkid girl thing going on. ^^;
While I wouldn't say the first ep. rocked my socks off or anything it was a nice watch. I'm interested to see how things turn out. That and I can come to enjoy a bond-like anime series that may take itself seriously but not to any extream.
As for music The OP and ED are kind of catchy, the type that grow on you. The music in the show was very Kajiura, though I'm kind of waiting to see if she starts changing her formula more as this shows sound was very similar to her others works. (Which isn't a bad thing if you enjoy that stuff I suppose.)
-The word "Bond*" was only used 5 times in the writing of this post

| Yup, this is straight from Noir's staff, so I guess they are trying to replicate that after they (IMO) failed with the craptacular Avenger. Looking forward to it. |

When I saw the trailer tagged at the end of Gungrave ep 25, I thought of it as a female mercenary action show. Guess I wasn't too far off. It did look interesting though.
Wonder if any subbers are picking this up... |

I had a very general look at the raw yesterday (without knowing anything about this) and right away i thought "that's so Noir-ish" So it's young female assassins stuff again?
Please, please, anime makers, don't make me rant anymore |

noir blew major ass with its acutaly story/plot...
i woulda liked it more if noir was about juz about soldiers of fortune going around doing odd jobs, pwning ppl and haxing them with ther uber l33tness...hopefully this would accomplish wat noir failed to do and i hope its not doomed to fail like noir did....but after watching the first ep, when the chick started halucinating like sum stoned junky....my stomach sank _________________

Avenger was a giant flop, so I'm crossing my fingers that this one will be a step in a better direction....
Possible Spoiler:
Although, the first episode did piss me off when she decided to change into formalwear to fight!? what the hell! an evening gown!? Is that the appropriate attire for a gunfight in the jungle!? What genius though up that crappy gimmick!?

thats exactly what i was thinking kei
and also the name to this anime is a bit misleading, i was expecting a 20 min long jap info-mercial about a brilliant new stomach pain solution.... _________________

OK finally got around to watching this... It's definitely like Noir (since it IS made by the exact same people after all, even more so than .hack or Avenger). But I guess it involves a totally different atmosphere. Very stylish that's for sure. |

I wasn't too impressed with this one. In fact... i paused it a good 4 times watching in pieces because it just didn't have much. Anyway, the evening wear thing... wth? AND she's anassasin but was thrilled to go on a date with some young doo... goodness. Hope it picks up or it's going the way of the avenger. _________________ [IMG:508:164:6c8e3c695e]http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p252/inqArk/Original_sig.jpg[/img:6c8e3c695e] |

I saw ep.2 and 3 and I must say I think this show has a lot of potential to becoming something worth to watch I think. It seems the creators of noir are now fixing the things that they did wrong. I'm seeing this series as a plot intensive anime which I personally enjoy (i.e. Witch Hunter Robin), with the good action as well.
I must say though the BG music in this game as well as to OP/ED songs are really good. The ED song isn't Midori no Hibi good...but it's still worth to listen too.
What a big boom of anime these past few weeks. Konomini, Midori no Hibi, Madlax, bakuretsu tenshi, monster, tenjo tenge, fma (still), naruto (still)...im going to get confused rather easily haha |

生き返った!
After episode 7 I am really getting excited about this show now. It finally seems like the little pieces are starting to fill in the full picture and all the main players will finally come together for the revolutions etc.
Looking back on it now the episodes they did seem to all have portions of the explanation but here it becomes pretty obvious that the book is going to be the key trigger to all of this. I'm interested in how they set it up as well. An ancient lost civilization, an underground agency pulling strings, and Margaret's connection to all of this seems to lend itself nicely to the plot as well. While maybe not the most ultra-hyper-original-super-championship-edition plot out there I feel it is all coming together pretty well so far.
So I guess the question that remains now is am I the only one that is still watching and enjoying it on the forums here? ^^; |
