Utawarerumono. It means, "the song being sung" or "the one being sung", but it doesnt seem to have much to do with the anime itself right?
The one being sung refers to hakuoro who is a god who lost his memories but those who worship him sing prayers to him... I think

FLCL - While completely made up, it is the name of the strange disease that makes the main character grow killer robots and whatnot out of his head. ^^
Kashimashi ~ Girl Meets Girl - Kashimashi actually means something like "gossip", though that's not a litteral translation. My teacher in japanese (before I flunked that is -.-"), described it as "when alot of women get together and babble on about anything and everything", which I took as "gossip" in nice wrapping. ^.^;
School Rumble - While it still doesn't make much sense, it makes a little more sense when remembering that the name is abbreviated as "Scramble" in japanese, and the intro song goes like "Guruguru mawaru", and the fact that the anime has an astounding amount of characters that are all important to the story... O.o;
As for Bleach, I've been wondering a bit too...I mean Ichigo clearly states that his hair looks like that and is not bleached...But meh... ;x
Some titles that has had me scratching my head are Ghost in the Shell, which admittedly I have only seen SAC 1 & 2 of, and Eureka 7. Of course Eureka is a very important character in the anime, but what's with the 7? @.@
Gintama makes me laugh at times as well, since it's such an obvious play at "Kintama", which eqvalient (oh lawd don't make me spell that!) in english would be "Family jewels" or other roundabout ways of naming the male genetalia... ;x _________________ To see the world in a grain of sand,

Since it's a series about how the line between "human" and "machine" is blurred, about how cyborgs are losing the essence of being "human", my interpretation is that the title is something like a play on words (allusion, symbolism etc) - ghost to represent the so-called soul or self being lost or an existence that is fading, yet lingering and being bound, and shell, an empty body and such.
They actually explain the meaning of the title in the Ghost in the Shell movie, which was a lot better the second time I watched it.
'cause the first time, I was 14 and went whenever I saw a nipple.
The second time, I was 23, and had by then seen lots of nipples. _________________ The pen is mightier than the sword

the series also takes place in a part of Japan (Tokyo?) called Kashima... if that has any relation. Haha "kashimashi" is a good word to describe women babbling... kinda like "mish-mash"

then there's the opposite theory... when you compile so much random data in a cybernetic environment that it accidentally creates omnipotent disembodied "life", or in this case, a "ghost". Think of it like a million monkeys typing on typewriters... eventually one of them will randomly write the words to a Shakespeare play. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

Kashimashi ~ Girl Meets Girl... the series takes place in some city called like Kashimura or something, but I don't see why they changed the name around to what they did
I missed this one. I remember reading somewhere (most likely wiki ^^) Kashimashi --> is something to do a with the gathering of women bickering or something along those lines ... so in a sense its relevant ^^;; _________________ Get ready to vote for who you think is the Sexiest Anime Character!!

Utawarerumono: I remember watching the english trailer for this, I replayed the guy saying the name about 10 times and I couldn't stop laughing. Just the thought of how long it must have taken him to get it right

Eureka 7 by far....
i got the Eureka, but i never figured out the 7 one
I think the 7 referred to the seven swell effect. You know, the attack that resulted in a giant explosion and lots of pretty rainbow colours flying around
