Hey....

I just started to use anime-source because I had found out that they "had" I's..... but then I found out that they did not.....

I have read up to volume 5 from mangaviewer.vrwarp.com.... but then I found out that there were about 15 volumes and mangaviewer did not have them... so I went a google searchin'...

Anyways, I really love all manga and most anime, but I am really sick of the RIAA and Viz, considering that they license anything that they can have their fingers on......

I am also trying to get a bunch of friends and internet friends to work together to get as much anime as possible, even the licensed stuff....

I mean, every friggin day, there is a internet site that gets shut down, because the corp. guys have been complaining to the RIAA and getting the sites shut down.... now it seems that they want to shut down the bittorrents....... those bastards... excuse my language....

Anyways, (whether you are against or for Viz, Bandai, whatever) I really do not want to wait about 6 years, no wait 8 years to see the rest of I's.......

Everytime I start to read a manga, it gets licensed within a friggin week.......

The only way us otakus are going to get what we need is to stick together and link up our computers and share, share, share...................

Thanks, for listening to my speech....... I am just a little pissed off right now and I am feeling a little light-headed.... really, I am......

You should be glad I"s is now licensed because it means you can probably buy the entire manga in two years time instead of searching for it online.

I"s was hardly licensed 'right away' just when you were reading the manga. I'd say we've had the full I"s manga on the website for about 2 years now.

Viz is not the RIAA. They didn't ask us to take it down, we took down the manga ourselves because as anime fans, we should support the people who made the manga in the first place, no? I did give a 2 day notice to everyone on the front page that it was going to get licensed soon. If you didn't read it or ignored my warning, whose fault is that?

Now I know it sucks you can't read I"s but keep an eye out for more stuff here soon. We have a TON of new manga we're waiting to put online.

I completely agree with Sensai-Sama.

Pirating is everywhere. People pirate copied music, movies, anime, almost everything. No matter how hard the RIAA tries, pirating will always remain. Many BT sites have been shut down, Napster has been shut down, but downloading licenced material still exists. The RIAA can continue pursuing digital pirates, but it's virtually impossible to stop them all. It can stop major sites from operating, but new ones will be created. The RIAA can't stop an entire industry. It should be up to us to decide if we want to buy the origianl copies or not. The music industry is taking a big step by reducing the price of CDs, thus encouraging consumers to buy the album instead of downloading the song off Kazaa. The manga makers should do the same thing, because the actual price of manga, to me, is too high. The average price is $10, and most series have at least 10 volumes. Normal students just can't afford to buy the entire series and end up reading it online.

People would buy the manga if it were cheaper, but it isn't. I am ready to fight the system.

Do you happen to think about the people who DON"T know about manga on the internet and are relying on companies like Viz to bring the more manga to read?

Umm, lets see... do you work for free? No? Well neither do the people in the entertainment industry. They, much like the rest of us, expect to get paid when they do their job. So unless you plan to be a volunteer for the rest of your life, I suggest you stop being a hypocrite.

You're free to learn Japanese buy the manga as soon as it comes out and read it all you want.

You can't save up $10 in a month? I suggest you find a cheaper hobby. Try collecting lint or something, I hear that's free.

Instead of crying about how companies are screwing every one by protecting whats rightfully theirs, try to think of a plan that would make both the fans and the companies happy. All your whining adds up to nothing, it's completely useless.

Without these companies the industry (be it hollywood or anime) wouldn't be where it is today. All of this stuff costs money to make. If you don't support the companies that make this stuff, then don't expect them to make more of it.

The problem here for me is buying manga.

People claim it is 10.00 USD. In reality, there's also taxes.
When I buy any manga from a local bookstore (borders) it costs me 10.84 USD. It may seem VERY trivial to everyone but I sorta would like to buy something and not get 2 dimes and 4 pennies. If there was no tax on books it would encourage the curious book readers to buy books. Why do I want to pay 8.5% taxes to help the government that screwed me over in college tuition (from 9000 -> 13,000).

AngelKing is correct, I don't think I would work very hard on something for countless hours just to have your fruits stolen by some punk kid.

In example, you were "playing" "Harvest Moon" and some guy comes in and steals all the "corn" you were "growing".
1)You would cry about it
2)Complain to the cops
3)Grab your sickle and hammer and ride on your horse and start slashing thieves.

it is quite stupid to say that people read manga online, while the census in California says 50% of the population has no internet.

How would they read manga online?
Have you visited your nearest manga bookstore?
I worked at borders for 6 months and everyday some kid comes and reads the manga then leaves. To add to my frustration he gets the whole Ranma 1/2 series and litters it on the floor. The manga industries suffer from people like this yet the manga industry hasn't cracked down on freeloaders like this.
Even if something gets licensed you would just head to your bookstore and grab a hand full of manga, find a quiet place and start reading.
Can you tell me how long it took for them to come up with a plot, characters, their reactions and anything you say is awesome.

You probably think the whole world revolves around you; how oblivious.

if u really were an otaku, u'd buy the damn thing rather than leeching it off.

but yea, the whole licensing and distrubution thing pisses me off. my friend works at a comic store and tanks sell for about $20-25 cdn (with the exeption of cruddy stuff like naruto and one piece) where as u can buy tanks in japan for about 500 ¥ which is like...not even 5 bucks american. sure its an imported item but it doesnt cost freaken 4-5 times its orignal price. not only that the translations of most of these things are half-assed nonsensical gibberish. if they were even remotely properly translated, i would be as pissed... but paying so much for junk like this just makes u wonder why u even bother buying it when u can get better translations for free...

I don't know where you live sensei sama but in america and japan manga is pretty easy to get, and not very expansive. (i dunno exact prices but wasn't it 6 $ a volume in america)

I find it annoying too that you have to wait, especially because manga isn't that very popular yet in the Netherlands and i mostly relly on free manga like here on anime-source.
But if i really read a good manga and it gets licenced, i would buy it, even if i have ton go through a hell.

Now i don't wanna sound like a saint, I do Illegal stuff as well, but, calling people bastards because they don't want to starve cuss no one buys their manga??
They are just trying to make sure their company makes it between all the competition.

i can't say i agree but maybe your right about that. they can't stop piracy even if they licensed every manga or anime. someone will always be subbing them

It's sure you can't stop piracy, but companies also use this. They look at what is popular and what is downloaded much. They then license it and distribute it. Let's take California for example. Let's say 50% of the population likes to read manga etc. and only 30% of those fans have an internet connection. If a company like ADV or whatever company see that people like the manga, they license it and put it in your local bookstore. Then the other 70% can read them too.

It's not like they need to price the U.S. manga at $10+. You can produce it for soooooo much cheaper. The Chinese translated manga sell for on avg. $3-4 USD. The quality is just as good. The production costs are virtually the same, b/c most of U.S. products are made in China anyways. They can totally provide the same product for around $5, and still maintain both quality, and a comfy profit margin. It's just that the pple behind the U.S. manga boom are greedy as heck. I heard that last yr the sales revenue for one of the companies was over $1 billion. Take away costs, and it still amts to a hefty paycheck for them. And they're making all this money on something that pple have been providing for free for ages. It's nothing near as virtuous as "providing for your family". It's just plain greed, pure and simple.

I'm not ripping the manga creators here, of course. Only the greedy pricks who reap millions from translating the intellectual property of others. How despicable.

idtaminger has a point: the industry is overcharging us.

i usually buy the original if i have the necessary means, but the prices are ridiculously high right now. That's y i go to the library to read books cus i cant buy every book that exists. unfortunately, the local libraries dont have manga, only american and french comics.

in a parallel world, music, let's take as an example a classical CD recorded a few decades ago. the musicians rnt getting much money, yet the CD still sells for up to $20. The conductor might even be dead, for all i know.

i'd be happy to buy manga and support the artists if they dropped the prices to something reasonable.
