I haven't seen the first one *or* read the manga so for me it's all nice, which left me thinking "Oh this is pretty nice!".
No intelligent comments from me so far, but I'll definitely be watching a few more... |

Eh I kinda expected them to start off near the begining. Yes, epi 1 & 2 did seem kinda rushed but, I guess they're in a hurry to get to the point of the story where the anime deviated from the manga... _________________ [IMG:350:100:fd0c78d353]http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/3054/beck3jk.png[/img:fd0c78d353]

whoa I am late for this bandwagon,
Right so FMA...
Just started watching the original anime yesterday, currently on episode 24.
I'd heard of FMA before but only recently became interested by the first ep of this "new" season.
When I'm done with it I'm going to read the manga since you say its almost finished.
Then I'll watch this.
And I feel that will be the best way to understand wtf is going on

More like Mustang; second to none when fighting Sins.
And I think episode two confirms it; this is a series for fans that have some knowledge of the first series or manga. What was a 2-3 episode affair in the original... lasted about 25 seconds total in this one.
Scene with Tricia and training with Izumi... went by really, really, really fast. Probably would have confused the hell out of new watchers, but just going through the motions for the old. Dropping country names like Xing, Xerses, and things like Pharmacy... at least we can see where the series is going, and it looks like it'll be very faithful to the manga. It's also establishing much earlier Alphonse's potential as an alchemist (entire body taken as his toll when compared to Ed's).
Episode 3 looks to be the same thing as episode 1-2 of the original. Maybe it's best to leave this one until 20+ to get to new events. Still, it's not like the first half of FMA was bad; it'll be nice to have a refresher that's well animated. |

Phew, I finally got around to watching this.

Having been an avid watcher of FMA (the original) it REALLY annoyed me that they showed Bradley fighting in episode one. In both the manga and the original series it's a bit of a shock and surprise when Badass! Bradley appears, in complete contrast to his docile exterior.
I'm also still a bit confused as to why we needed the first two episodes at all, except to very quickly review their entire pasts, and introduce everyone at once, to catch up people who never watched the first season. It looks like we're going into the Lior next so things will probably look a bit more familiar from there. It is very well animated and I had almost forgotten that a new redone season would mean that my favorite character is back! Hughes! _________________

I'm part of the minority ~ ie hasn't seen much of the first season or read the manga. So I don't have any qualms with the first or second episodes. I also happen to like listening to Romi Paku and Kugimiya Rie ^^ _________________ Get ready to vote for who you think is the Sexiest Anime Character!! |

I wish they'd only last 5.
It's good, but I'm still liking the previos version better. _________________ The pen is mightier than the sword

| Tucker episode showed that the brotherhood is weaker than the first series. No emotions at all... Too rushed up, no relations and character development is shown... IMO |

FMA was one of those awesome anime (like Saiyuki, Inuyasha...) that left me hanging. I understand the angst that majority is feeling: why need to remake this.
However, I can't deny the fact that I'm quite over joyed to just to be able to SEE such lovable and memorable characters and hear their awesome and oh-so-familiar voices once again (even if it's kind of redundant). Ahhh.. the nostalgia.
I do not mind a 'remake' at all, as long as the story will tie up loose ends and progress more closely to the manga. In other words, I am all for this show, but just give me a better ENDING---no more ending that's really not suppose to be an ending (because the original story never ended) --___--. lol.
And is it just me... or does the character design look more 'chubby' in this new one? Ed's and even Roy's faces are so round.... [/i] |

It's closer to the manga artist's current style, I noticed that she's been making the faces rounder lately. It's always interesting to see how an artist's style progress.
I do wonder if the anime will be able to have an ending though. (if it follows the manga story line, which it certainly looks like) since the manga hasn't ended yet. Even though she's said it will end soon, the manga is still a monthly, I can see the anime catching up before the story resolves itself. Although there is still alot of grounds to cover, it will have to be atleast 50 episode in order to cover it all. |

| IDK have not started watching this remake just yet, I do agree the ending in the original was kinda a let down but there are lots of good anime that kinda leave yea hanging as well. Anyways to my point: The movie does kinda tie up things in the original. |

It may start the same but i think the story will deviate as the episode progresses i hope they will follow the manga version that would be interesting! |
I heard the series IS intended to follow the manga route?
Due to fans being dissapointed in the stupid ash lame ending, and it not originally following the manga. |

I have to say that I loved the original anime. It made you really feel the characters.
Well....I tried watching FMA 2. And I couldn't stand it. The biggest let-down for me isn't even the way the story starts of (even though it was way too rushed and too mass-oriented) but the animations. When I saw the trailers I was hoping the anime wouldn't look like them but...well bad luck.
They went from awesome animations in the first series to...crap? Where are the shadows on the characters? Is outlining a new unheard of concept?
The characters simply look AWFUL. Now I usually tend to ignore bad graphics if the story is decent but so far FMA 2 only offers a badly presented storyline AND bad graphics.
A job badly done so far is all I can say |
