With 20 people around, I'd need to get into my own little world for sanity's sake.

I'm also actually more tolerant of running water than power at a campsite. Still considering grabbing one of the 5-gallon oil bottles from work next time we empty one out. Add a spigot, and it'd be perfect.

yeah, went to an anime convention... but sadly... I was not really feeling the urge to take shots... so though I was enjoying the whole thing, watching the Anime Idol and Anime Cosplay Walk-off... I can't share any images for you guys... Confused

Okay, me gonna post pics now. Here's me in Asakusa during the Fireworks Festival. Me being the cameraman meant no pics for me~ *sigh*

On the way there, the subway and stations were packed with girls in yukatas. The streets were crowded even more. The Sumida River was the host of one of the biggest fireworks displays in Japan. So the river-shore was already filled with picnic-ers when we got there.

Stalls, shops, and more stalls of unbelievable trinkets! This one sells keychains which transforms into different kinds of miniature weapons. Under ￥300 each, it was such a temptation indeed.

I managed to find a Fortune thingy place where you "donate" ￥100 and receive a fortune in return. I got the BEST of all there was... pretty exciting. Who'd thunk there would be 89 of them? And please, please forgive the Engrish...

Of course, what would a festival be without its masks? Walls were adourned with hundreds of these works of art. But they were a bit expensive for me... sadness...

Look at that great pagoda rising in a blazing glory upon the night sky... just magnificent! I can't convey the depth and absolute humility you'll feel under these things. There were two too!

And of course, Asakusa's Sensouji Temple. After I took this pic, we were enveloped in a huge fog... dunno where it came from. But inside, while everything was colored by the fireworks, it felt surreal...

Oh and here's a peak of the 1-hour fireworks display. That's my friend. The streets were closed off, and there were people all over the place. Blocks upon blocks of people. I think most of Japan came that night...

There are more pics that night, but I haven't the energy or time... just came back from extra Jap classes and it's already late. Have to wake up early tomorrow.

Thank God it will be Friday tomorrow!

Eyes look natural, I think she added the hazy effect.

Why are there so many Asians here? At first glance, sure, it's an anime forum, but most of you are from Western Europe or the Americas, and if there are any pictures of light-haired people in this thread, I've missed them.

Sorry, I've just thought that was odd for a while. Maybe I need to find a picture of my goofy-lookin' mug to kick the trend. Razz
