Just so you know, I wasn't replying to AK... Didn't even see his post until now. Wink

Anyway, some of the jokes in this seem to be quite hard to notice unless you are Japanese (like all the Shibuya references), but for some reason this show just cracks me up.

I get this feeling that Gonzo's going in circles and with each lap they get less creative... *insert the usual mecha rant* Razz

I think you should try to learn that sometimes creativity isn't everything... There's such things as "homage" and "parody" (though this one doesn't really try to do either of these outright, I don't think you're really supposed to take this show that seriously)

"you should try to learn"... Hmm, that's a funny statement that suggests I lack some sort of important understanding that you have, and that I should spend effort to acquire it... even if it is not related to the show we're talking about. Mecha has been both a) parodied to death and b) homaged to death so what exactly are you trying to prove?
Anyway, it's like if Gonzo doesn't pump out some mecha show every year (even if it's mediocre) their world will come to an end.

Well then it seems like you don't have much of an attention span and get tired of things pretty darn fast. Laughing Which is why I sometimes wonder why you bother watching anime at all... It's obvious that you don't share the tastes of most of the anime-watching audience and most of the time you seem to be bored by it. So rather than doing something and being bored 80% of the time doing it, maybe it's time to move on to a new hobby instead?

Anyway, I was implying the fact that this series isn't meant to be taken seriously, there are parodial elements in this (I mentioned the Shibuya stuff earlier, and also the blatant references in the character designs). But if you don't have that kind of taste in jokes I guess I can't blame you.

Of course, their specialty is sci-fi, action, 3D animation (read it on their site dude). So if they don't make these they go bankrupt. Sad So what you said is indeed true.

The last 48 hours I've had most of my attention on a 3000 word history essay...

Not at all. I love anime but there's just a point when the shows that interest you become much fewer and you get tired watching the same things over and over. I've seen many people go through this process - initial excitement and adoration, gradually starting to notice patterns and cliches, and then ending up disliking most shows that are coming out while waiting for the few that are actually worth it (at the moment there are five such shows that I follow and that ain't too bad). Whenever I can't find enough decent new stuff I just watch the best of the older shows and they definitely do the job in keeping me greatly interested.
I guess I talk more about the stuff I dislike in these forums but that's simply to get my share of fun out of them Smile Arguing with you is also very entertaining Wink

Then they have a very limited understanding of the different things they can do with sci-fi and CG Smile

Time to drop this. If ya wanna have a conversation, by all means do so via PM's or e-mails. If it's not about Bakuretsu, it doesn't belong in this thread.

Hmm... It'd be nice if you could use some of that in anime then... Laughing

Well, I guess that's just you then. Me, I prefer to watch a series out, looking for the good points so I can continue on, and then deciding whether I like the show or dislike the show at the very end. And for me every series gets its own initial excitement and patterns and cliches, so I guess they don't affect me as much as a whole... In fact I've found ways to enjoy all 12 shows that I've picked up this month and I plan on finishing them all (not trying to boast or anything though). So someone like me just can't understand why you even bother doing this anymore if you can't even find more than a few shows to enjoy. Razz

You're right about that. Quite fun Smile

Sci-fi, CG AND action. Don't forget that. Smile

Anyway, I agree, back to subject now.

While I can't comment on the show being anything super as of yet I will admit that it could be much worse. There are signs of plot showing up here in the second ep. enough to get me curious about Joe's connection to the Robot/Cybot and her past.

At the same time though I am also not seeing the problem with the CG either. Seems fine for me. I see crappier 2D animation getting set on 3's as it rolls by that stands out more than any of the stuff I have seen so far in this series. (Gundam SEED, Planetes come to mind off the top of my head) But again that is just my opinion. The CG here doesn't bug me at all.

On the other hand the service aspect of the show does make it a little distracting but are people whining about it in Tenjo Tenge? (I've already decided to pass on that one.) Some people like it some don't. While I can't say I am enjoying seeing the blatant service, it was a part of the show from the design stage so it isn't very surprising to me.

The other thing is just how serious the show should be taken. I'm thinking that it shouldn't be taken too seriously. With that in mind I'm not expecting much for dialogue etc.

All in all it sure isn't revolutionary but I don't think it is going to flop over here or anything either. This kind of show has a nice niche group following. I see it as jsut trying to extend that niche a little more.

Nothing wrong with that I suppose.

I don't know if this series is trying to be funny or serious. Either way it looks very retarded and I'm dropping it.
