Wow.. I am *just* watching this show and boy is it interesting. The most interesting one right now would be episode 8. A couple of you have mentioned the weirdness about episode 8.
I didn't understand it fully until I saw them take that photograph that creeped out the girls.
And then it clicked in....
They are DEAD ALREADY.
They died when they were in the abandoned building and the demolishers came in, probably either from the building's collapse or the pills.
Next thing you know they are lying in the street with workers running around them, not paying attention to 2 guys and a little girl lying in the middle of the street? I think not.
Then they do weird stunts in the street like yelling and they get no reaction from other people on the street.
Next clue is the subway train. We see the man commit suicide but yet near the end we see what looks like the dead man dragging himself out. But notice everyone is still looking at the train and the tracks.. presumably where the dead body is. That man is really a ghost.
The biggest giveaway is in the parking of the store. They cast no shadows at all while other people beside them do.
And the last hint is the photographs with the girls.. heh.
I saw up to episode 7 in fansubs before it got licensed. however Geneon released the first disc yesterday to my total excitement. Of course I bought it, along with the artbox and little MAromi plushie that came with it. The cutest little things in anime are usually the deadliest. I love that ^^
As for the show, it is of course one of my favorites. I am a Satoshi Kon fan ever since Millenium actress (my favorite anime movie). When i heard about his new project and that it would be a tv series, I was freaking ecstatic!
episode 3 was incredibly disturbing on a Perfect blue kind of level IMO but it was quite good. I love stories like htis. Shows too weird to fall in the mainstream, too adult to attract hte young ones, and too advanced for the DBZ fan-only morons to understand.
Simply excellent.
I got the first volume rented, and I liked all five episodes and how they left it off at its current situation. Lil' Slugger is sometimes that Serial Experiments Lain was missing. There is a lot of irony in this series. It comes from my favourite director.
