no it's alright, everyone's has a first time with anything, even computers. I was also like that, but after constant learning comp engineering then i knew more about such stuff.

ok, let's get back to your problem. can your computer still work perfectly, as in boot up and stuff? if that's the case, it cannot be the motherboard problem. a motherboard isn't powerful enough to fry any comp parts for what i know.

One possible cause which i derived would be the unstability of the ram. Firstly, it is not good to mix two rams of different frequencys and capacities together, it is very bad for your computer. so u may want to try changing or upgrading your ram, maybe 256mb dual channel at same frequency. If your ram is kingston, just send it for repairs (it's lifetime warranty) and rmb to use the same brand of rams also.

However, I don't quite understand your "out of no reason my 256 is fried and now my 128 become 96mb". as in the decrese in memory size. can u run dxdiag under the run option, and give me a print screen of that? and give me a full configuration of your computer hardware so that i can better understand your problem.

So far I have tried some method and advise tht gaven by
frens and fella forumer from other site,
been unplug and reinstall all my hardware component as well,
before I reformat my PC it cant even work and kept on restartin,
statin sumthing error etc etc etc dumping physical memory (screen turn blue)
Been try my ram card on frens PC as well, the 256 ram card is total gone
but the 128 still can use and after been figurin and repairin my PC for whole nite found out my graphic card is gone too!! So I assume my 128 bcome 96 mb bcoz it was supportin the built in graphic card wasn't it?
Duh =( sad case men!! could this happened bcoz of over voltage??
heard from some ppl it could happened bocz of worm virus as well, issit real?
Gonna get a new graphic and ram card soon.

I had a similar problem with my RAM sometime ago. I had 256 x 2 but my pc only detected 256 x 1 and it would restart automatically within the first 10 minutes of startup.

Tried to replug my RAM, graphics card, changed hard disk and power supply but nothing worked. As a last resort the casing was opened completely and I found the underside of my motherboard had accumulated a lot of dust. After cleaning that up, my pc worked fine.

The ram should automatically detect if it is compatible with your motherboard. For the graphics card, install the drivers from the cd you get with it.

You likely have to set the BIOS to the option of your Primary Graphics being your PCI/AGP Graphics card instead of the inbuilt one.

Yes...

1. Leave the graphics card out of the motherboard.
2. Power on, enter BIOS.
3. Set the option to boot up with AGP/PCI graphics card display.
4. Save & Exit.
5. Power off PC.
6. Install graphics card.
7. Switch on and continue.

Hmmm... sounds like a car cranking???

That could be difficult to pinpoint. It depends on the loudness of the sound. If it is very loud, I would advise checking the Power Supply's fan or any of the high-wattage cooling fans you might be using.

It could also be the motors of the DVD/CD-ROMs that have difficulty starting up on boot up. This is easier to pinpoint, just unplug these drives and boot up. If the sound disappears, then this would be the issue.

The same goes for Hard Drives, though they would give a softer noise than the DVD/CD-ROMs.

hmm dont think it could be the power supply... I just installed a new 440 watt one like 2 months ago... Im thinking maybe my cd drive.... cause like the "car cranking noise" is like very persistenet on boot up... but then it dies down and cant hear it until u boot up next (if u restart, no noise tho)... and so u said hard drive is less so i dont think its that...yeah and me not too good with comp building/repairing... I dont feel comfortable thinkering wiht the insides of my comp lol... last time i did i broke my rear fan O-o

if its not too muhc to ask... instructions for unpluggiong cd drive?

The easiest way of disconnecting your DVD/CD-ROMs and testing for it would be:

1. Turn off the power to your PC, pull the plug from the socket.
2. Wait 5 seconds for any residual power in capacitors to discharge.
3. Open the casing.

4. Look for the back of the DVD/CD-ROM.
5. Look for the connector with 4 wires running to it, usually the colours of these wires are a sequence from left to right, Yellow, Black, Black, Red or the other way round.
6. Remember the way it is plugged into the DVD/CD-ROM ( the connector is directional, meaning you can only plug it back in one way ).
7. Pull that connnector out. This will require some force, be careful. Congratulations, you have just disconnected the Power Supply from the DVD/CD-ROM.

8. Plug back the Power Supply to the wall socket.
9. Turn on your PC. You can now determine if the sound still exists.
10. After determining so, you may want to plug back your DVD/CD-ROM so repeat steps 1 & 2.

11. Connect back the Power Supply to your DVD/CD-ROM ( remember the way it was originally plugged in )
12. Close back your casing.
13. Plug back in your Power Supply to the wall socket.
14. Continue with whatever you are planning to do.
