Whoa, 70 eps >_<
Well, it's not like there are no good long running shows and this one looks very promising from the start. Unlike the other show this season that's trying to be realistic to some extent (Yugo) this one might actually be great.
I love the music in the OP btw, the best I've heard in a long time. |
And even better, the source manga is actually finished (it ended in 2001). So they won't have to hack up the anime's story in order to not "catch up" with it here... That's a very good thing considering the complexity of the manga. Hope this'll turn out well, and judging from the first two episodes it's a very good adaptation so far, so that's a good sign. |

That's definitely good. The last 70ep show that I watched (HNI) left me in great pain when it stopped (in its case, however, there was plenty more manga available; it's just that the Japs couldn't appreciate its greatness enough ) and the approach to Nauto-like shows stinks.
Btw Dr. Tenma's downfall really reminds me of Jerry Maguire. Of course I doubt that movie originated the idea but theres a lot similarity. |

OK, I've finished all but 4 chapters (not volumes) of the manga (they haven't been scanned yet)... Since this is an anime thread I won't go deep into it, but I can see the anime doing a good job adapting this. The manga is a typical seinen mystery/crime/murder manga (though it's A LOT more interesting like I said) but its violence and sex are nowhere nearly as explicitly depicted as other manga of this genre, so that means it should be an easy transition to TV. There are 162 chapters in total, so I think it'd be possible to fit most of it in 70 episodes (since there are a few fillers here and there that can be ignored). And the pace is perfect for the anime format too.
One thing to note... The plot twists in the manga are simply expertly done. You wouldn't know what hit you but once you do everything makes perfect sense. So expect some great twists and turns from this show. |

Whoa you finished 158 chapters in how many days?
I downloaded the Chinese version (which has the whole 18 volumes already translated) and only finished vol 1 so far and skimmed a few in between and the end (kinda scared when I saw how thick each volume was )
But I have to agree. It is a horror/detective show that is good. I'm definitely putting the anime on my 2004-to-watch list now . |

Umm... One?
I know, I surprise even myself sometimes...
Can't wait to finish up though... It left off on a cliffhanger... But the rest should probably be released in the next week or two. |

Well it all depends on how long the chapters are and how much content they have Most Naruto chapters take me about 3-4 minutes to read while say a GTO chapter takes much longer. |

Well, this manga's chapters are pretty inconsistent in terms of length... Some are extremely short while some are fairly long... Though none of the chapters are really text intensive so that might be one reason why it was a fast read for me. Also the manga is relatively straightforward, the layout and plot are not too confusing so I didn't have to read and reread it to understand, and of course, it's addictive, so I just couldn't stop... |

I watched episode 3, really great series with much mystery and suspense so far. Everything is hidden in a dark dark mystery thats just about to be shown.
The only beef I had was that it suddenly jumped 9 years .. heh _________________

Heh, and it's only the beginning of the series too... Wait until we get deeper into the series... Now THAT'S suspense...
BTW Mangascreener finally finished with the Monster manga, so if you want to read that, now is the time to do so I've also started reading three of Naoki Urasawa's other manga, Happy!, 20th Century Boys and Pluto... Let's just say that it's obvious who my favorite mangaka is now... |

it's supposed to be a long one 60+ eps I hear(or read from this thread at one point). Man this is by far the best series out there right now after 4 eps. Finally get to see who the 'monster' is... and Dr. Tenma is looking more and more like the badguy in everyone elses(or just that BKA guy) eyes... can't wait for more. _________________ Urgo... living in Vancouver now go Calgary Flames! |

I dunno about English (I think darkhunger mentioned about Mangascreener or something, you can use their name as the standard url, www.mangascreener.com )
For Chinese, you can try to find the torrent for the entire 18 volumes in one rar archive on http://bt.greedland.net/index.php?cateId=2 Not sure if there are still seeds though
Trust me, I believe there is enough material for 70 episodes. |

You can get the batch torrent for Monster (complete, in English) here:
http://64.62.145.165:6969/
Right now they are going at a pace of 2 chapters per episode. There are 162 chapters. That gives them enough material to make 81 episodes. So yes, there's MORE than enough material to make 70 episodes... Emphasis on MORE. |
