Do any of you play a musical instrument? Do you take lessons or learn by yourself? How long have you been playing?
I play violin (weird thing to hear from a guy that listens to metal). Been taking lessons for several years now, so you can say i'm a veteran. Some of my friends play guitar and they teach me some simple tunes on it. _________________ Nobody is perfect; I'm nobody. Therefore, I'm perfect. |

| I used to play the piano a bit. I'm not any good any more though. The violin's a wonderful instrument. I reckon it's the most expressive of the lot. I wish I could play it. I took lessons when I was a kid but didn't progress beyond the "cat in a bag" phase quickly enough to shed myself of the opinion that violinists must be masochists, and vioin tutors sadists. I kinda regret that now. |

i used to play the violin, and i really enjoyed it. but i was a horrible player, and i got tired of my family making fun of me. i haven't played in about 5 years now. i picked my violin up the other day, and i noticed that i have almost completely lost the feeling of it. i want to take lessons again, but i'm afraid of looking like an idiot.
and earnil, what you play and what you listen to can be 2 totally different categories...
when i was in high school (haha 2 years ago) there was this one metal-listening kid and he was a fantasic violin player... but he got up on the stage at the talent show and played this horrible piece he had written himself... then he flipped a switch on his electric violin to torture the audience even more... and he played for nearly 10 minutes. i wanted to cry...
but his violin was soooooo cool. it was black, and it was like a violin skeleton or something. it was cool. but it sounded ugly. |

| I play violin and recorder... That's pretty much it for me. But I think it doesn't matter what instrument you play. If you don't your soul and feelings into the melodies you are producing, it's not music anymore and it's not art. One reason why Herbert Von Karajan's music or Horowitz's performance rarely affect me in an emotional way... |
