Well he is really there in the illusions.
They think he is one place while he is really somewhere else. It just seems like he suddenly appeared and attacked but he could have just walked the whole way making them think he was standing still. I'm not sure if his ban kai is strong enough to do this but it seems very possible.

Their wounds are not illusions but the way he fights them is by using illusions, like making them believe that he stoped their sword with one finger ect.

btw is it me or do M7 edits really suck in quality? especially ch173, the freaking editor did not know what he was doing not even smoothing out the text which is one of the most important jobs for an editor, he sucks and they should fire him or at least train him some more

it might be azien true strength but he might be usin his bankai's special effect to hlp him create a serious wound on ichigo.

I also think that is Aizen's true strength, he's been a captain for a while., but.. not to knock on Ichigo.,
He did just get done fighting kuchika Byakuya., so while he did have a little rest, and Inoue helping. I doubt he was near 100%.. or probably even near 50% strength when he went to go help out Renji.
For me, the bigger surprise was Mr. Blind I'm all into justice, helping out Aizen.

Are they going to wait for everyone to gather before they start hurting Aizen?

Spoiler? After the bear/wolf guy attacking, and getting defeated by, Aizen, Byakuya arrives at the end of 176 to save Rukia!

I doubt the old man is going to win. Like i said, this kind of story ALWAYS let the good guys lose first but in the end, they will win. Just like Justice always win... Laughing

Even the main character (Strawberry dude, Ichigo) lost to the hand of Aizen, what possibly can the old man do? I know he still has a body like a bodybuilder but do you expect readers will be happy if the mangaka lets the main character lose to a side character? (i don't even bother to remember the old man's name).
