Doom 3 in the right circumstances dampened my pants let me tell you... eh... any game thats horrorish can be spooky if played all alone in the dark but doom three made me want to go hide. Very scary.. nightmarish. _________________ "Let them hate, so long as they fear" |

there was one horror game, The Suffering, which I really wanted to play, where you're an inmate in an Alcatraz-style prison, and a gateway to He11 opens up.
Honestly, I don't really like being scared, but there's this gir1 I met who does, and...
Actually, what scares me anymore is when the stupid developers/directors set up for a jump scene. They've started dragging those on longer and longer. I suppose if there was a game with plenty(like I understand Doom3 is supposed to be), I could get used to it pretty fast, but it's rattling, currently, and when directors drag it on, it just gets annoying. _________________ The pen is mightier than the sword

resident evil 4 is the scariest game in my opinion...i'm not really into that kind of game, but it is the scariest game i've ever seen. all the lighting and the crazy graphics and physics definitely lend to the scary-ness...
btw, RE4 is coming out for PS2, but not for a while...i think its around 7-8 months from now. (lots of GC fans were po'ed about that announcement) |

well its overall not the scariest game ever, but the scariest scene of any game ever is RE2 when you get into the police station. The hallways that have the boarded doorways.
I can say without a doubt there is not a human being alive that has not or will not scream like a 6 year old girl when the arms reach out and snag you the first time.
but for the overall make you crap in your pants effect i'm gonna go with a tie between silent hill and doom3
silent hill just had the timing and the mood right the entire time
doom3 made everything frickin pitch black for a reason, and if you played at night with your surround sound on you know that your nerves are just shot after a dose of that game |

| The Silent Hill Series rules, the psycological fear is the best and also Tecmo has something really interesting Fatal Frame 1 & 2 those titles gave me some fearful nights |

In my opinion, Silent Hill 3 take the cake when it comes to making you wet yourself. There are so many conceptual ideas executed so well in the game that it captures the feeling of being in a nightmare.
It doesn't rely on cheap scares or loud noises, but rather the concept that your lack of total understaning of your situation only breeds more fear in the confusion. I think that using confusion has to be the greatest element used in a horror game, as most people associate their inner fears with things that they don't understand.
Plus, it's a visually stunning game. |

Secret of Evermore, scared the crap out of me... because it sucked so much how could it be the successor to Secret of Mana... sheer horror more than
any blood sucking, bone maiming, feces spitting, acid spraying and loud noises things could do to me. |

Definatly Silent Hill and Fatal Frame...I dont know if it was cos I was quite a bit younger than I am now (more in the case of the original SH on PS1), but they REALLY scared me...theres some freaky stuff in there... _________________

Sorry, but Secret Of Evermore is not the successor of Secret Of Mana, and never was meant to be. Secret Of Mana was in installation in the Seiken Densetsu series, known in Japan as Seiken Densetsu 2.
Secret Of Evermore is nothing more than a side project that basically used a similar engine to the Seiken games. Also, the game wasn't that bad to begin with, it actually executed some great Alchemy concepts within the engines means. |
