Synopsis & Reviews on Anime-Source

Has anyone heard of FMP Season 3? Its on discussion on Anime Otaku but is it really true?? Supposedly 26th August dis year. Can anyone assure this?

Yes there is. It's called Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid.

I don't know the release date though (other then it's planned for this year).

great! i would be looking forward to it then. By the way do you know how many eps are there dis time and is it a cross-breed between FMP1 & 2 or just Fmp1 or Fmp2

Well this is the first news ive recieved concerning a third season. All i can say is i hope its a lot more like the fumoffu season then the first season. The show obviously worked better as a fish out of water humor series and when the tied in bonta-kun... priceless. i expect more bonta-kun or the third season will not be a success.

I think i heard it was a continuation of the fumoffu season (i'm not sure), because the original series ended but the fumoffu season had a funny and wierd ending which left fans hungry for more. I hope it's comedy/mecha aswell because i enjoyed fumoffu more than the original full metal panic.

it's a continuation of both FMP and FMPF, since FMP and FMPF happen in parallel.

im pretty sure that the third season will be based off the End of Day by Day novels, which cover after the 1st season... you can read them at http://www.boku-tachi.net/

the novels are pretty decent, however there isnt much comedy in them compared to fumoffu

I think FMP?F happens in the same timeline parallelly as FMP!

Clickies for those wishing to have a look at the scans in NewType for this series.

As for what FMP! and FMP?F are, as far as I understand it, FMP! is based off the novels. In between the chapters of the novels, there are some 'spare' time. It is some of these 'spare' time that the manga attempted to fill in with additional comedic chapters ( the manga also dealt with the stories of some of the novels in their own fashion ). It is these chapters that are used to become FMP?F.

So dreamless is correct in saying FMP! and FMP?F occurs in the same dimension running along the same timeline, though it might be something like this.

Note this is for example only.
FMP! Ep 1-5 -> FMP?F Ep 1-2 -> FMP! Ep 6-8 -> FMP?F Ep 3 -> FMP! Ep 7-15 -> FMP?F Ep 4-9 and so on.

For The Second Raid, the concensus on other boards point towards an adaptation of the novels again ( like devin529 pointed out ). Whether they will add in the manga chapters like FMP?F is still questionable.
