I keep on having to reinstall everything everytime I turn off my computer.
does anyone know how to change the settings so it will not reset.
my OS is windowsxp. |

this is highly unusual for a computer to have this kind of behavior, give more details !
how do you turn off your computer ?
do you have the system restore turned on ? if you don't know, maybe you should take a look at this
if it is turned on, try to disable it, restart the computer, change & install a few things, restart the computer and look if the computer saved the change
if you don't have an anti-virus I would suggest you install one & scan your computer with it (don't forget to fully update your virus definiton before you do it)
have you ever heard of deep-freeze ? if not you should check if it is installed on your computer, you use it to "freeze" one hard drive so any changes made to this disk while the computer is in operation will be done in memory, nothing will change on your drive

i did turn off system restore but when i turned the computer back on it was back on again. when i turn off the computer i use the shut down button on the start menu, but sometimes the computer stops in the middle of loading so i press the restart button.
how do i check to see if it is in deep-freeze? |

| Never heard of this problem before, your pc has serious problems. Instead of spending lots of time finding to find the solution to the problem, you might want to reconsider reinstalling windows xp again or another os like windows 98 if you have it. You may lose all your precious data and stuff, but it might be worth it in the long run. |

now this is a silly question but You dont have the winxp disk in your cd tray when you start your computer right?

Anyways, I think the suggestion from previously are much better. Try to back up your data before trying to reinstall your Windows XP.
