honestly and truly, cowboy bebop, FLCL, and witch hunter robin either don't need sequels, or didn't end in a way that merits one. let me explain my reasoning for each.
cowboy bebop's story was primarilly focused on spike, despite the adequate share for everyone involved in the show. throughout the series, we are taken deeper and deeper into his past until the climax, in which of course there's a finality to it that needs no mention, but certainly shows that you can't have a sequel with this particular cast. the cowboy bebop movie i believe was made to satiate the fans who ardently wanted more, and thus, the anime's team assembled once more to give them what they wanted, with mixed results. for me, knockin' on heaven's door (the official title of the cowboy bebop movie) was what full metal panic? fumoffu was to its original, it served to give us just another day in the life of the bebop crew, but on a much grander scale (keep in mind that fumoffu was several episodes of sousuke and chidori's school days, which prove superior to the original series, unlike CB:KoHD is to the original series)
FLCL is a work that stands alone as well. really, just how much more japanese culture jokes do there need to be before it just becomes a series of "j-pop culture crack of the day" with each episode. sure, there's a plot underneath all of it, and the plot wrapped itself up nicely. now, sure, it's possible to do a series just about haruka and the robot canti, but fans of the earthling characters would probably feel alienated (so to speak). if it's the wackiness of the show you seek, the magical arcade abenobashi may be what you want. if it's the plot, i dunno what to say, i certainly can't see any expansion to the existing story, not unless it focuses on those not of this world.
witch hunter robin was a disappointment for me. great premise, great soundtrack, initially good art and animation, but a horribly executed storyline. it dragged on for too long, which is something that can execute a potentially great or even good anime. yes, it's 26 episodes long, but much of that was material that can be argued to be necessary or not. i suppose the real question is the necessity of where the story went where it did.
really, was a twist needed so badly that the head of the witch hunting organization does a 180 on his own people, black-listing them and the organization they all answer to? it was pretty clear that he wasn't going to succeed with his former employees, the government, and solomon coming down on him.
honestly, i wouldn't want to see a sequel to an already overhyped (IMOHO) anime.
chrono crusade i haven't seen yet, but am reading the manga. if i ever get to see it in its entirety, i can supply my input on that series as well.
FLCL and Witch Hunter Robin are in no need of sequels imo. What Witch Hunter Robin should do is start over from episode 12 and actually make it as good as it had potential to do when crap hit the fan. FLCL.. yea I just can't see that happening. I haven't seen all of Chrno Crusade so I can't comment on that. Also bebop... I wouldn't think a sequel would work for that... for obvious reasons(if you've seen the series). What would be allright would be if they did kind of a prequel thing to it. Showing the syndicate days of Spike alongside Vicious... and go into more detail about the whole deal with Julia. I wouldn't really want to see this though as it would probably ruin some of the charm and mystery that Bebop has... and it would be an obvious money making move ... though I guess it wouldn't hurt to give us bebop fans some more action _________________ Urgo... living in Vancouver now go Calgary Flames!
i havent seen witch hunter or the end of chrono, but flcl...not really, but cowboy bebop, i could see it with a sequel, like maybe another character...spikes apprentice? dun dun dun

man theres some better choices than those 4 man... Hellsing and nartaru right off the top of my head. Sieriously i think cowboy bebop was perfectly fine when it ended. I dont really want a sequal that badly or at all. FLCL... the reason it was short was because it only needed 6 eps to get its point across. Never making a sequal, on the companys part can often be a good decision because if the american movie industry has taught us anything its that a lot of the time a sequal can actually ruin the origional movie in a sense. While thes examples like FMPF to contradict what im saying, i still think most of those series ended and were fine to end. _________________ "Let them hate, so long as they fear"

yea i kan see all your opinions to have the anime having to have been ended and yea there are a lot more anime that should have been acknowledged but because of my limited amount of years of anime...i guess i dont really have too much time to watch them all...you are right that most of these anime should have been ended...i just wanted to see all of your opinions is all
in essence, there's a revamped evangelion story in the form of the NGE: iron maiden 2/girlfriend of steel 2 manga. it essentially takes the alternate storyline presented at the end of episode 26 in the original series and runs with it. it's actually pretty good, and is up for download at Studio ADTRW's site (see the link in the manga section). FMA is getting a continuation i guess with the upcoming movie, which i don't know about a release date yet. it's silly that they couldn't have wrapped things up in 51 episodes IMOHO.
As many have noted already, NONE of the 4 title listed above merit sequals. Their story have been told, and well.. they should be allowed to fade from our memories (not that we will ever let THAT happen)
I did vote for COWBOY BEBOP because while I did not want a sequal, I would have not minded a few more episode that did not deal with Spike's past. So more of an episode that dealt with just Spike and Jet, before Faye and Ed came into the scene.
The one anime that I would like to see a sequal to is ROD the TV series. While a good series, I felt that... in many ways it was too dark, didn't know how it was suppose to fit with the Read or Dream Manga, which was suppose to be after the anime.
Maybe a few more episode showing how they adjusted to life again I suppose..
as much as i like cowboy bebop i think a sequel could spoil it, plus, either spike would have to be brought back to life or it would be with different characters and spike's irriplacable

I think that the great OVA set FLCL should get a sequel of some sort. It is probably on my top for comedy anime's. If there was a sequel for FLCL it would be very hard to live up to the original's glory... so maybe it wouldn't be that good of an idea
