WOW
simply speechless.
this anime is the best thing thats came out in a long while
a dark anime shrouded in mystery and suspense, it has great visuals coupled with awesome audio. this is a must see. saying anything more about it would only spoil the excitement this anime packed with. _________________

| Wow... 40 minutes of complete nonsense... What is this supposed to be about? I didn't get anything out of it other than some weird story about a guy obsessed with a glass cup. |

I haven't seen this yet but: most people thought Texhnolyze was nonsense crap in the beginning (I didn't) and it obviously wasn't.
Anyway, I'll check it out whenever I have some free time... final exams suck |

I think people just found the "silent film" aspect of the first episode to be weird... I actually liked Texhnolyze from the very beginning.
But this... I don't get at all. So someone please explain for me. |

each of the glass cups contain a trapped spirit within them. the french pertty cup had the spirit of cossettte which only eiri (who supposidely has some mental problem given that he goes to the doctor and gets cat/pet scants) can see. durring this time eiri starts experiencing strange hallucinations and such, he forms a blood pact with cossette by drinking her blood. in order for cossette to get eiri to help her, she instills the spirit of her fromer lover (the man who killed her) into eiri. however the spirit was corrupt with hatred, hatred for killing his own lover (cossette) and after eiri frees all the spirits he warps into an obsesive demon. cossette tries to purify the tormented spirit within eiri and rips out the pain from within eiri. and that leads to the end of ep 1 with cossette pledging for eiri's help.

| That leaves one question... What the heck does Cossette want Eiri to do anyway? |

Alrighty, thanks for clearing this up... I guess I've never managed to master the art of watching confusing anime and reading a lot of subtitles at the same time.
Anyway, the animation is indeed pretty good, as in high budget OVA quality, while Yuki Kajiura's music here fits much better than they do in Madlax. Just that the whole cup thing through me off a bit. |

Holy crap did I ever start watching this anime with the wrong mindset... I looked at the name and automatically came up with the conclussion that this was going to be maria-sama like... man never been more wrong ever. This first episode... well what can I say... for the whole 40 minutes I was pretty confused... but it was still fun to watch this anime. The creepy mood drew me in and is leaving me waiting for more hehe. _________________ Urgo... living in Vancouver now go Calgary Flames! |

Ok, so by the time the first ep was done there were three things that I felt really stood out.
1. The character designs. I'm assuming it is the same guy that did the Rahxephon human Character designs, his work here is very fitting and he always has a way of making the girls look extreamly cute or sexy. (IMO) :P
2. The music. While I wouldn't say that MADLAX has bad music I do agree that what Kajiurasan put into this OVA is very fitting.
3. To top off all this atmosphere they go out of their way to make this look very stylish. It reminded me a whole lot of the first episode of Soultaker which also was a head trip visually as well as plot wise. ^_-
Hopefully they will be able to go somewhere within the time frame they have set up. Good stuffs. |

I hate posting twice but oh well... Hopefully there are still some people out there watching this willing to post.
Just got done watching the second OVA. Again, I must say that they keep the animation very stylish and true to the first episode. Kajiura-san's music also continues to surprise me. (That part with the chello sent chills up my spine. I likes me some chello!)
That and I think it helps to clear things up a bit too. If you were turned off by the confusing-ness of the first episode, maybe you should give the second one a chance and see if that helps.
Good OVA's are so few and far between... ^^; _________________ Mamonaku, san-bansen ni densha ga mairimasu. Kiiro sen no uchigawa ni sagatte omachikudasai. |

The only thing about this anime that isn't perfect is the title XD
They made a grammar mistake... since Cossette is a girl it should be Le Portrait de Petite Cossette |
