Do yourself a favor and watch Appleseed. Best use of CGI in an anime ever. Although I dont believe every anime would benefit from CGI or too much CGI.

When the entire anime is done in CG it usually looks horrible. However, I watch a show like Last Exile and can't help but love the use of CG on the airplanes. CG has its' place, but it shouldn't take over the drawing style.

Hard to say... matters how well the cg is blended in with the hand drawn stuff. In some series the cg is really well done and makes the anime look awesome... but other times the cg is overdone and it really looks out of place. Gonzo(I think that's the name) likes to overdo the cg and it makes some scenes which could of been done well enough handdrawn look really awful. I voted yes just because so many animes use it now a day and hell most of the time it looks nice.

As long as it looks good, I don't really care if theres CG or not. Most of the time CG in anime does look really nice though.

It all really depends on how its used, i microszero, its used rather well, in ghost in the shell 2: Innocence its was realy well done, no there are times when it should not be done, but i have not seen many that bug me so i cant really comment on them, but i do like the use of them.

As long as it's used to help make the anime look better, or as some distinction between two different things. If it's just to make it cheaper then don't bother.

"Oh, cg is popular, so we should put it in our show."

That's the kind of message I sometimes get... making me wish they hadn't even bothered.

This goes back to the debate of style over substance. CG is a great idea for anime and can fit very well nowadays with cel-shading (look at Zelda: the Wind Waker to know about it). Heck, people are even creating storys from video games (known as machinema (see-Redvsblue or, one that I'm involved in, BloodSignature.com), so you can look at modern technology as a new art form.
However, if you sacrafice the story and dialogue for the art style, then no good can come from it. A balance must be found to keep it good. That's what makes any great anime, movie, or any other media source great.
