It's basically the cautionary tale about repeating history Ikki Tousen can never be, I think. I mean, every main character in the series has experienced working in secret to bring down some conspiracy or other. Now, despite all of Maya's past efforts, Aya is going to have to participate in that tradition of betrayal just like her ancestors.
I believe that's part of the reason attempts to interfere with Souhaku's plans have been so disastrous; all of the "good guys" never bother to clear the air and talk about their plans, so in the end they waste resources dicking around with each other.
I mean, the whole Enforcement-Jyuukenbu thing could've been avoided if Mitsuomi had just told Maya about F, right?
Well, it's ok. The pacing is a little slow for me though, and the ecchi moments can get a little extreme. However, the fighting system and philosophies are surprisingly deep, and the powers are cool. There's also a lot of nice minutiae about martial arts and Japanese culture. Personally, I liked the subplot of the triangle between Maya, Aya, and Souichiro, as well as the later story arc about the team of Red Feather Families from ancient times. The manga talks about deception and duty and what it means to be strong, as well as about the warrior mindset. You just have to really throw out the dross to get at the gold with this series

This series is one of my favorites.. It continues to be more badass as it goes on... and has everything any mangaist/animeist could ever want. _________________ "Those Eyebrows..."

I have to admit I'm hooked... after reading 100 chapters. Yea, it's slow sometimes, but that is made for by the awesome fights. _________________ Life is an opportunity waiting to happen
