DDR2 RAM

any one know what defines a DDR2 RAM comptible mother board.

even if some one could find a list, of compatible motherboards, that would be great

That would be a motherboard which takes DDRII ram. DDRII is a different kind of DDR meant to work at higher speeds but unfortunately having higher (bad) latency. 240 pins instead of 184 and 1.8v instead of 2.5, so a normal DDR stick won't work in a DDRII board, and vice versa.

Most websites or stores will tell you if it does or not in the product description, and you can always check the model number on the internet if you aren't sure. AMD doesn't have any DDRII motherboards, only Intel (i915 and i925 chipset based boards specifically), so that's one other thing to know as well.
