| i really think this anime isn't so well made because it had a sense of action but it used aliens as its enemy which is pretty normal but not exciting. |

| The animation is gorgeoous. The Characters are well designed. You have your token "leader/hero" character, your female lead, and your sort of sempai/kohai relationship. Much of these aspects were also present in the Kurosawa movie. I think the premise is awesome! This is a must see! |

Some more homage to the original film can be seen in episode 3 (still d/l ep4...) Kanbei-Katsushiro-Gorou and the stick
The music still sounds great and ep3 did not disappoint.
For the ones familiar with the original, Gorou remains to character, so no worry there.
One wonders how Kyuzou's character is going to be, now that he's employed by the other side at the moment.
Lunar has released ep 3 & 4 btw for English fansubs. |

| I just finished watching 3 and 4 and.......WOW! I Can't see how anyone would not like Samurai Seven. What I would suggest is that you go and watch the original Kurosawa movie, then the western Magnificent Seven, and then watch the first 4 episodes again. The premise of the original story is a classic tale about a group of farmers that are being terrorized by bandits. A smal group of them go to the city to find help. The adaptation to an anime that encorpaorates science fiction, fantasy, and Samurai lore is not only creative, but brilliant! To top it off, the animation is superb as is the music. Kurosawa liked to have passages of his scenes with only Taiko drums playing a beat. This added to the period atmosphere and the same is done in Samurai Seven. The Characters are both interesting and likeable. Love it! |

I agree - after eps 1 and 2 i was ready to drop the series... I even deleted those eps off my HDD as i was that certain it wasn't gonna be worth following...
Famous last words huh...
I decided to get 3 and 4 as I was bored and had run out of things to d/l, and i realised I could follow the series loosley, just catching up every other month or so when there was a dry patch in everything else... but damn.... i immediatley went and grabbed 1 and 2 again, so i can archive to dvd when its all done
On a side note, I am interested in seeing the basis of this anime, if anyone has the original black and white Seven Samurai DVD-Rip with subtitles, and is willing to send it to me one way or another, I would be immensly greatful _________________

I just finished watching episode 4 and I am very impressed.
I'm happy to start seeing more samurai anime out there rather than all the recently recycled series we've been seeing.
So to spark some discussion, who is everyone's favourite character so far? I haven't seen the original movie so can't tell how far he will go, but I like Kikuchiyo a lot. He's got a very cool character design. I also enjoy the character of Katsushirou because I want to see him evolve and gain strength.
I'm a fan of the underdogs I guess...? _________________ Ask me a question, and I will answer to you with my fists of fury!1!1!!1!!!! |

when i first heard/read about this anime i thought it was going to be totally retarded... i mean come on... but somehow this anime has, more than any other recent anime, drawn me into its environment. while i'm watching this series the animation and scenery is done so well that i can imagine myself walking along the same streets (well except for the fact that they show the same 3 generic samurai like 4 times...). after watching the first 4 eps i was totally blown away and now i'm really anticipating new eps. hopefully this show will be a good successor to kenshin because, let's face it, after kenshin (up through the shishio arc and especially trust and betrayal) no samurai anime has been even close to decent. my hopes are high. _________________ is life really so long as to allow us to spend each day dreaming about tomorrow?

| I've been impressed with this since episode 1, since it was able to make me laugh at the absurdity of a guy flying around killing robots with a 25 inch katana. That, and the fact that I watched the movie about two months before and noted the accuracy of certain scenes. It definitely has massive potential, and since it has a storyline to follow, and a reputation to keep, it shouldn't suck too badly. The monthly scheduling also allows it to keep the quality of the animations high. In a year from now, we'll probably still be talking about this one. Hmm... Gonzo goes from PKK to this... not bad. |
