|
|
(I thought we'd try a spin-off from "Anime Spotlights" in here since not everyone who visits the site is interested in JRock...)
Artist: Do As Infinity
Genre: JRock
Age: 6 Years
Similar Western Artists: Sheryl Crow, Corrs (Tough to find English-speaking bands that are comparable to DAI... They're just too good for comparison )
Everyone knows DAI, right? Well, for those who don't they are:
Van Tomiko, 26, vocals, lyric writing
Owatari Ryo, 34, guitar, chorus vocals,
Nagao Dai, 34, composer, programmer, guitar
They released their first single "Tangerine Dream" in September of 1999 and followed it quickly with several albums and singles. They are currently a big hit in Japan and their popularity is spreading to the rest of the world very quickly.
Tomorrow, the 16th, is the release of their new album "Need Your Love".
It's going to be sold with or without a bonus DVD that has the PVs for Be Free and Robot.

Need Your Love Album on HMV Japan site (¥3800 with DVD)

(Note: If you find any information in this post is invalid please PM me. Also, I'm on the lookout for new artists that you think should be spotlight'd and I need info on past spotlights so feel free to PM me to help out!) |

Actually, I'd like that.
I'd also like it if someone would make a mock review of BECK - Mongolian Chop Squad. _________________ [24 Season 04]

| i would do that but then you wouldn't know which band is current. don't worry, i'll un-sticky them and let them slide down the list if they get old. |

I listened to Tangerine Dream a few years back and I must agree that they're an awesome group.
I downloaded their new album, and it didn't disappoint. Great one! A must Have! |

| Actually, hasn't Dai left the band? I thought he left like in 2000ish to do his own thing... he only shows up in the concerts once in a while now. I think. |

DAI has been evolving. Now they don't sounds like their debut.
at first they sounds like alternative rock, but now they've evolved to more pop-rock. I was a fan, but not now.... Not to say that it's a bad thing to be pop-rock, just that i wish they're more to alternative =S |

| DAI is awesome. They are part of the live8 in Tokyo. Dai Nagao hasn't left the band.. He just write the songs and work in the sidelines. |
